How Would You Answer This Question: What is the Gospel?

Posted on January 18, 2017 in Theology by

There is much confusion and misinformation in our world about what the Gospel is. Some people think the Gospel is doing good things, living “right” (whatever that means), or going to church once in a while. Many Americans believe that being born in America or in a particular part of the country is enough “Gospel” to save someone. And other, well meaning “church people” would say that the Gospel is doing good deeds as a form of “servant evangelism.”

Still, there’s those pesky mega-preachers that claim to know Jesus and say that the Gospel is loving people. All you gotta do is flash a perfectly white smile, say some fluffy, inspiring cliché’s and, voila, Jesus.

None of this is the Gospel. So the question remains, what is the Gospel?

Blogger Remembers Being Gender Confused At a Time When People Were Sane

Posted on May 26, 2016 in Marriage, Sexuality by

Like blogger LaVern Vivio, I’m very thankful I grew up at a time when common sense was still common and boys and girls were still boys and girls. Vivio recently shared a very personal part of her child hood in which she recounts wishing she were a boy. But she quickly surprises the gender activists by saying she is thankful she grew up then, rather than now:

“As a child — possibly throughout my entire adolescence I had wished — special emphasis on the word ‘wished’ I had been born a boy. I don’t still wish this — I wished it back when I also wished I could be a veterinarian, a fireman, a cowboy or the next ‘Tanya Tucker.’ when I grew up. I was thankful to have grown up then — rather than now. So I had the chance to not only choose between a career as a cowboy or fireman but to grow through the awkwardness of adolescence without being assaulted by the psychopathic motives of gender activism.”

Vivio is thankful she grew up in a saner time because if she were a child today and even hinted that she wished she were a boy, she would become a target for gender activists. Gender activists would tell Vivio that she really is a boy, trapped in a female body, and that she needs to take hormones, wear boys’

Down the Drain: University Reverses Gender-Neutral Bathroom Decision for the Reason You are Probably Thinking

Posted on October 21, 2015 in Sexuality by

I just don’t understand this. This makes no sense.

The University of Toronto is changing its bathroom policy and reducing the number of gender-neutral bathrooms. Why in the world would anyone want to do that? Don’t they want to be “all-inclusive” and make transgender people feel welcome in any bathroom they choose to use?

In fact, the University of Toronto set out to do just that. They eliminated all male and all female bathrooms in order to accommodate transgender students. A move that was praised by everyone that thought making men and women share bathrooms was a good idea. Of course, only people with an incredible lack of common sense would think such an idea was good. And wouldn’t you know it, the people that said it was a terrible idea and warned that incidents of voyeurism and peeping (or worse) could occur, seem to be right.

Yep, you guessed it. Not long after the University of Toronto mandated that men and women share a bathroom and several reports of voyeurism happened.

According to an article at The Star, several women reported seeing cell phones peek above the shower stalls attempting to get images and videos of them showering. The article states:

Are You Male or Female? Or Something Else?

Wouldn’t it be a good idea to teach impressionable children that gender is just a construct of society and is really as fluid as they want it to be? In fact, we should teach them that there are many genders, perhaps a dozen, and let them pick and choose which they want to be.

That’s what one of the nation’s largest public school systems is preparing to teach its students via a new health and sexuality curriculum.

At a time when gender is suddenly a debatable topic – because apparently we’re not content with just boys and girls – this school system wants to further confuse the situation by affirming that people can be more than just male and female. No longer is your anatomy the definer of your gender identity, now you can choose; you can even choose to be something other than male and female! (Could someone please explain that one to me!?)

The Fairfax County Public School system is preparing to implement changes to their family life curriculum which includes teaching on gender identity that can only be described as disastrous and unscientific. A report describes the curriculum for middle school this way:

Why Do Christians Need to Oppose Transgenderism?

Posted on June 25, 2014 in Sexuality, Theology by

Since the SBC annual meeting the issue of transgenderism has been on my mind a lot. Not because I hadn’t thought about it before, but because of the fact that a major denomination needed to adopt a unified statement clarifying biblical teaching on the issue. Something seems terribly wrong with this fact.

Why is it necessary for the SBC to adopt a formal resolution codifying biblical teaching on the issue of transgenderism? Dr. Russell Moore, head of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission answers the question:

“The cultural mindset is that gender is something that is constructed by the individual. So it’s disconnected from how the person is created. And that’s one of the reasons why I think this resolution … was so wise, because it spoke to what the Bible teaches about what gender means in the first place, about how God’s design is good.”

Dr. Moore is right. The fact that society has turned gender into something that can be bent and altered at will is part of the problem. The established gender binary’s that once created the foundation of our society have been attacked and weakened, prompting a surge of defense for the male-female complimentarian view that was once so…normal.

Man Wants to Compete As A Woman – CrossFit Says No

Posted on March 31, 2014 in Sexuality by

It was bound to happen sooner or later. A transgender woman is suing CrossFit for refusing to allow “her” to compete in one of their annual CrossFit games in the women’s division.

The Blaze reports:

“The lawsuit brought Thursday by Chloie Jonsson, 34, accuses CrossFit Inc. of violating her rights under a California law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender identity. Jonsson’s complaint says she was born male but has been living as a woman since she was a teenager and underwent sex reassignment surgery eight years ago. The surgery, coupled with the female hormones she takes, satisfied the state’s requirements for her to be recognized as female on her birth certificate and other official documents.”

Will Boys Be Playing On Your Daughters Team Soon? Here’s the Answer

Psychiatrist Keith Ablow plans to keep speaking against encouraging transgenderism in children despite death threats.

While it’s good to know people are willing to oppose dangerous “science” and speak out against things that may be harmful to children, it’s also sad that such a need exists. Yet, the realm of transgenderism is one such area where amidst growing cries for rights, some voices are urging caution.

In the wake of a California law that took effect in January allowing students in California to decide for themselves which bathroom to use and which sports team to play on based on their perceived gender, Ablow wrote:

Gender Confusion Results in Pronoun Confusion

Are you a he,” or a “she”?

Do your gender and your sex agree?

These might seem like odd, almost absurd questions. And yet they are the very questions that many college students are wrestling with. For example, Skylar Crownover is a female attending Mills College in California, an all-girls school. She is the president of “Mouthing Off!” a campus group for LGBT students seeking to vent their frustrations. Each week when they meet they being by stating their name and the preferred gender pronoun they would like to be identified with throughout the meeting.
