Spotting Integrity Issues in Parents

Posted on December 26, 2013 in Family by

Do you have integrity? Wait, don’t answer that. Maybe we should let those who know us best answer the question. What would they say? Would they affirm us as a man or woman full of integrity or someone lacking basic ingredients of integrity?

For that matter, how would your kids answer the question? We would all be naïve to think our kids don’t know us the best. We think we hide our shortcomings and weaknesses from them, but honestly, we know they are smart enough to notice the issues that we struggle with the most.

I can’t think of a single parent that doesn’t want to raise kids full of integrity. Sure, we want them to be healthy, happy, talented, successful and well-liked. But to see our kids grow into men and women full of character and integrity is surely at the top of the list for any parent.

How Do You Respond When Your Spouse and Kids Annoy You?

Posted on December 24, 2013 in Family by

Have you ever noticed that it’s easier to honor a perfect stranger, or someone you hardly know, than it is the people you love the most? I find this to be not only true in my own life, but very perplexing. How is it so much easier to be patient, kind and understanding to people I don’t really know than it is to be all those things with my wife and kids?

Do I love the people at the gas station more than my own family? Do I prefer the company of the grocery store clerk over my kids? Are my co-workers more deserving of my best than my wife? I doubt we would answer any of these questions in the affirmative and yet, practically speaking, we live life as if we answered “yes” to them all.

I am reminded of Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 13: 7 as he teaches on what love looks like in daily life. Paul, speaking of love, says that it:

Heartbreaking: Belgium Legalizes Euthanasia for Children

Posted on December 14, 2013 in Life by

A heartbreaking story out of Europe reported that Belgium has, in a landslide vote, legalized euthanasia for children. The report states:

“In 50-17 vote today, the Belgian Senate approved a bill that would allow euthanasia for children. The bill now goes to the House of Representatives for final approval before being sent to the King to be signed into law. Most political observers are predicting the passage of the bill. Currently the law in Belgium allows euthanasia requests for those over 18 and of sound mind, although it is acknowledged that these restrictions are widely ignored. The bill allows euthanasia, with parental consent, for children experiencing intolerable physical pain and who are suffering from a terminal medical condition. Since legalization of euthanasia in 2002, Belgium has seen a nearly 500 percent increase in deaths by euthanasia. Various studies have found that patients in hospitals are increasingly being killed without their consent or the consent of their families.”

This is yet another way in which people show no respect for life. We kill unborn children in the womb, we kill the elderly, we kill adults who request it, and now we kill children.

Does anyone actually think it will stop here? How long before Belgium is killing the disabled? How long before those who are unable to “contribute to society” are terminated? The mindset of the Nazi regime is once again creeping through society. We’ve forgotten how to celebrate life in all its various forms and to see the beauty that can result from suffering. I don’t wish pain and suffering on anyone, but I wish life was celebrated.

Parents somehow finding it acceptable to kill their kids ought to be ashamed. Click here for original article.

I Don’t Get It. Why Hate On Home Schoolers?

Posted on December 10, 2013 in Religious Freedom by

It doesn’t make any sense.

I’ve tried to figure out why there is a deliberate persecution of home school families and I cannot figure it out. This persecution is taking place worldwide as governments crack down on home schooling globally. And for other countries it might make perfect sense. But it’s nothing short of baffling to figure out why the American government under Attorney General Eric Holder, presumably with consent from the president, would refuse to admit the right of parents to school their children.

At a time when the American education system is in turmoil; declining global competitiveness, overcrowded classrooms, high dropout rates, moral decline further facilitated by things like Common Core. One would think that our government and education system would welcome parents that want to teach their kids at home.

Infographic: How Do Home Schoolers Measure Up?

The infographic below is just a small sample of the larger graphic you can view to see just how home schoolers measure up to their public school counterparts.

This small graphic is very informative, but I really recommend that you click here to see the larger graphic as it is a very detailed analysis of the advantage home schoolers get via their education model.

Real Parents Don’t Encourage Gender Confusion in Children

Posted on December 2, 2013 in Sexuality by

Either the number of people claiming to be “gender confused” has dramatically risen over the past few years, or scores of confused people from the past few decades have a secret. One thing is for sure, gender confusion is now front and center in our culture.

Personally, I think the number of gender confused people has risen dramatically over the past few years. Not because people did not face such confusion in the past, but because in the past their confusion was met with compassionate counsel that encouraged them to embrace their biological gender. Today, however, such counsel is labeled “intolerant” and “bigoted” and all but outlawed.

Undercover Video Shows Statutory Rapist Getting Abortion Drug While Victim is With Him

Posted on November 29, 2013 in Life by

What makes videos like these so unbelievable is the ease and comfort the pharmacists show in selling an abortion drug to an admitted statutory rapist while his victim stands with him. It is an appalling site to watch this rapist tell the pharmacists that he is having an illegal sexual relationship with a minor and see them show absolutely no concern. This further proves that medical professionals are not concerned with protecting minors and gives greater evidence that parents must be vigilant in protecting their kids.

Will Pedophilia Be Legalized Next? The Answer Is…

Posted on November 18, 2013 in Marriage, Sexuality by

A recent headline sent shock waves across the nation a couple weeks ago when people read: “Pedophilia Officially Classified as Sexual Orientation by American Psychiatric Association”?

The headlines grabbed attention and caused a buzz across the blogosphere and social media. Many of the sites carrying the article later updated their posts after the source citing the change to the APA’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) could not verify their research. Whoops.

For now it seems apparent that things have not changed. But this does not mean this subject should be ignored or pushed under the rug. It seems many people do that with pedophilia, which is understandable considering the particularly heinous nature of this sexual mental disorder. The reality is that only by facing the topic can we steer the discussion towards defending the victims, the children, rather than approval for the predators.

Does Planned Parenthood Really Care About Women?

Posted on November 18, 2013 in Family, Sexuality by

Parents in Europe can breathe a little easier after a draft report seeking to establish abortion as a fundamental human right was rejected by the European Union.

A report on the incident states, “The resolution on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights was presented by Portuguese MEP Edite Estrela but her report is said to be the work of the International Planned Parenthood Federation in Brussels.”

The reason this is important is twofold. First, it seems our lawmakers of late envy Europe and want to refashion the United States in the image of Europe. They repeatedly cite cases, laws, and even culture as a reason for change here in the U.S. I suppose the government overreach, failing economy, and complete lack of moral compass doesn’t mean much to Washington; but it sure does to Americans. We left Europe for a reason.

Should Christians Compromise to Receive Government Money?

Posted on November 14, 2013 in Public Policy, Sexuality by

One article has stayed with me since I first read it last week. I’m having a hard time even processing what I’ve read, much less any sort of biblical foundation for the decision.

The Kentucky Baptist Convention’s president of children services is urging the convention to change their hiring policy for Sunrise Children’s Services to allow the hiring of homosexuals. In a recent closed-door meeting the president, Bill Smithwick told trustees that “federal protection for homosexuals in the workplace as a ‘civil right’ just as race, gender, national origin, etc., is certain to become law sooner than later. Sunrise will comply or lose.”

Smithwick then presented three options to the leaders including “Follow current policy and terminate the employees. Then refuse to hire homosexuals even when doing so becomes a condition of receiving federal funding. (2) Terminate the employees according to current policy, wait until the government mandates a change, then comply. (3) Change the employment policy now.
