Elections Have Consequences – Just Ask Unborn Children in Texas

Posted on July 6, 2016 in Life by

If you don’t think elections have consequences you haven’t been paying attention for the past 8 years. If you think the upcoming election won’t have consequences, you simply have no grasp on our current cultural position.

The most pro-abortion president in American history has had 8 years in the White House. His tenure has produced two staunch abortion advocates on the Supreme Court. With these allies firmly in place for the rest of their lives the high court of our country currently stands firmly with the abortion industry. That realty has had a devastating effect on the efforts of individual states to pass common sense laws to protect women and unborn children from the barbarism of abortion.

The most recent setback to efforts of pro-life advocates came from the Supreme Court ruling in the Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt case. The court decided that requiring abortion doctors to have admitting privileges to local hospitals and requiring abortion clinics to adhere to the same building standards as ambulatory surgical centers were unconstitutional and “not medically necessary.”

To break this down, which will help understand the absurdity of the pro-abortion position and the court’s ruling, let’s make sure we understand exactly what these two laws were seeking to accomplish.

What The…!? The Guy Who Exposed Planned Parenthood’s Illegal Activity is Being Charged with a Crime!?

Posted on February 3, 2016 in Life by

I’m typically a big fan of Texas.

Texas is a place where steak is served at every meal, guns are encouraged, and the San Antonio Spurs call home. Oh, and I was born in Texas. All in all Texas is a great place that many states could learn from.

However, Texas has recently made headlines for something that defies the imagination.

By now most people are aware that a series of undercover videos exposed the illegal and barbaric practices of Planned Parenthood in selling aborted baby body parts for money. The videos have been so damning to the abortion business that many states are cutting funding to Planned Parenthood and a majority of Americans want federal funding cut. (That’s not likely to happen as long as the most pro-abortion president in US history is in office. Think before you vote.)

David Daleiden and his group, the Center for Medical Progress, spent several years undercover secretly videotaping conversations with Planned Parenthood executives about their daily practices in securing aborted baby body parts to be sold for money. The videos caught many high-ranking Planned Parenthood executives discussing the practice as if they were selling used auto parts. It was nonchalant to them. Some remain proud of their actions today.

What If You Showed Up At Church Sunday Morning and Heard This?

Posted on January 14, 2016 in Life, Theology by

uppose you went to church on Sunday morning to hear God’s Word and listen to a sermon or lesson intended to help grow you spiritually. You’re eager to know how God’s Word applies to your life today and how you can look through a biblical lens at the issues that permeate our culture. You sit eagerly waiting to hear the message God has given your pastor when the pastor begins by say he/she wants to discuss the biblical support for abortion!

That may seem far-fetched; as if there is no way any pastor would express support for something so obviously wrong. Right?

Unfortunately the reality that there exists members of the clergy that regularly teach God’s Word to those gathered in their congregation while also supporting abortion is true. Even sadder is that it is not one or two “rogue” or isolated pastors adhering to this lamentable position. In fact, according to a recent article, 53 pastors in the state of Texas alone support abortion:

Did Justice Kennedy Create Protection for Christians Against Homosexual Attacks?

Posted on July 7, 2015 in Marriage, Religious Freedom by

After the Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex “marriage” in all 50 states, the concern for many is how the ruling will affect churches and pastors. One can almost cut the tension with a knife as we await the first headline that a church and/or pastor has refused to perform a same-sex wedding.

What then?

Some say the Supreme Court made it clear that pastors, churches, and all people bound by religious convictions cannot be forced into violating their religious convictions. Justice Kennedy said in his remarks:

“Finally, it must be emphasized that religions, and those who adhere to religious doctrines, may continue to advocate with utmost, sincere conviction that, by divine precepts, same-sex marriage should not be condoned. The First Amendment ensures that religious organizations and persons are given proper protection as they seek to teach the principles that are so fulfilling and so central to their lives and faiths, and to their own deep aspirations to continue the family structure they have long revered.”

Breaking: Texas Abortion Ruling Has Implications for West Virginia

Posted on March 28, 2014 in Life by

This is not only important for Texas and the lives that will be saved there, this is important for West Virginia as well.

Right now Gov. Tomblin is still waiting to sign the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act that passed in the state legislature earlier this month. The bill passed with an overwhelming bi-partisan majority that should have made it a no-brainer for the governor to sign. And yet he is waiting, and hedging, saying that he is concerned about the “constitutionality” of the bill.

Those concerns should have been relieved when the Alliance Defending Freedom, a Christian legal group, sent a letter to Gov. Tomblin assuring him of the constitutionality of the bill. Now that the Texas law, which is must more stringent in its legal scope than the West Virginia law, has been upheld yet again as constitutional, there is really no reason for Gov. Tomblin not to sign the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. That is, unless his claim to be pro-life is little more than a campaign slogan.

Daily Roundup: Texas Marriage Amendment Struck Down by Federal Judge

Posted on March 1, 2014 in Marriage, Public Policy by

In yet another shocking display of judicial activism, a judge has ignored 76 percent of the state’s voters and struck down a state constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Following a disturbing trend of judicial and attorney general decisions the federal judge, Orlando Garcia said the voter approved law has no standing in the lone-star state.

This trend of lawless behavior is not surprising when you have a president that does the same thing. Once President Obama decided he would not defend the laws of the United States and instructed his Department of Defense to ignore national law, it was only a matter of time before others did the same thing. Now, as a result of his reckless example we have attorney’s general taking the law into their own hands and making decisions outside their legal purview. As well we have judges ignoring the will of the people and striking laws that they don’t like, much like the Obama administration has done.

America truly is in a state of alarm as lawlessness and immorality are running rampant in an attempt to overwhelm the nation. If good people continue to ignore what is happening we can reasonably expect to lose many of our cherished freedoms in the coming years. Consider this your daily roundup of articles on the situation in Texas:

Here are ten notable moments from 2013:

10) The rejections of the Estrela Report by the European Union and the Bali Declaration by the United Nations

Brad Mattes explains the Estrela victory for Life Issues Institute:

The Estrela Report is a proclamation of “sexual and reproductive health rights”—code words for their primary objective of abortion-on-demand. The Report would literally declare abortion to be a human right. The goal is to make abortion accessible through the public health systems in all European Union member countries. There are no limitations, meaning that third-trimester abortions until birth could be a common reality. …It should come as no surprise that one of the self-seeking groups behind this measure is the International Planned Parenthood Federation. …
