Should We Seek to Secure Rights for Animals?

Posted on January 13, 2014 in Life by

A question being considered by some in our society is one of fundamental importance. The question is whether humans are exceptional among other living things. The belief in human exceptionalism was once a nearly universally held one. Recent attempts to elevate animals – to the detriment of some humans – have called the idea into question.

For centuries humans have occupied the prominent place as the dominant and most respected living creature on earth. This was first due to the special creation of mankind by God at the outset of human history (Gen 2). God further told man to “be fruitful and multiply” on the earth (Gen. 9:1) and that he would be “feared” by other living creatures as the blessed creation of God (Gen. 9:2).

This idea of human exceptionalism has been a foundational principle in our society for generations. Western civilization has fashioned laws around this idea and even attempted to convince other peoples of this idea in an effort to secure human rights. The belief that mankind is the greatest creature on earth is being threatened now by efforts of animal rights activists, among others, that want us to see animals as co-equals with mankind.

Powerful: New Pro-Life Movie “Gimme Shelter” Tells a Gripping Tale

Posted on January 12, 2014 in Life by

A new star-studded pro-life movie set to release January 24th has a gripping tale to tell. Based on a true story, Vanessa Hudgens stars as Apple, a girl that’s been in and out of the foster care system nearly her entire life. After leaving her mother’s house again because of the abuse Apple seeks shelter with her father, played by Brenden Fraser. But after finding out that Apple is pregnant her father encourages her to abort the child. Since Apple wants to keep her baby she decides to leave her father’s house. After a near fatal car accident Apple is shown kindness by a hospital chaplain (James Earl Jones) and consequently finds shelter in a home for pregnant young women.

This powerful tale has the potential to reach a wide audience with its star-studded cast. The message of life will come through clearly as Apple seeks to make decisions to benefit her unborn baby.

Breathtaking Video Shows Conception to Birth

Posted on January 11, 2014 in Life by

The video posted below is breathtaking. This video is a visualization of what the process of conception all the way through birth looks like. While the process may not look exactly like this in every case, there is no doubt that the accuracy of the process has been captured. And, if you pay attention to the words used to describe the various stages, the author of this film uses the word baby to describe the life being formed.

Here’s some additional facts visualized through this video:

24 hours: the baby’s first division
25 days: heart chamber is developing
32 days: arms and hands are developing
36 days: Most rapid development – if the baby continued to grow at this speed for the entire 9 months, it would be 1.5 tons at birth
45 days: baby’s heartbeat is twice as fast at the mother’s
52 days: developing retina, nose and fingers
The baby’s continual movement in the womb is necessary for muscular and skeletal growth
9 months: baby has 60,000 miles of vessels bringing nutrients and taking waste away
Birth: mystery, magic and miracle.
Take a few moments to watch this incredible video and then share it with others so they can be awed by the miracle of life and the humanity of the unborn. If the video doesn’t appear automatically, please refresh your browser. Click here for original article.

Bible Verses to Back Up the Pro-Life Position

Posted on December 30, 2013 in Life by

Writing at March For Life, Tom McClusky made a list of 16 Bible verses that bolster the pro-life position against abortion. This isn’t an exhaustive list by any means, but it is a great place to start in understanding what the Bible says.

What I particularly enjoy about this list is that it shows the humanity of the unborn. It should be enough to simply say “don’t kill” and leave it at that. Somehow that’s not enough for some who believe unborn children are not human, or not alive until the mother says they are. These verses however show that life begins in the womb and unborn children are just as alive as any others.

Take a look at this list and consider making a new year’s resolution to stand for life against those that seek to kill the unborn. Truly the Gospel of Jesus Christ is one of life, not death. And we who claim the name of Christ should be most vocal about that life He has come to give us all.

Amazing Pictures: Photog Captures First Moments of Life

Posted on December 30, 2013 in Life by

Some contend that life begins “when the mother decides life begins.” This is not just a patently false position it is logically absurd. The argument is a weak attempt to justify abortion. The lack of logic and rational thought behind the position is so obvious that few dare use it. But for those who do try and use this silly position they should take a look at the images captured by a photographer at a university hospital in Europe.

A recent article says of the images:

“A photographer has captured the wondrous, miraculous moment of birth – in all its raw and unglamourised glory. Taken before a mother has seen her baby for the first time these amazing photographs show the reality of how we all enter this world.
The warts and all pictures are the work of respected Danish photographer Suste Bonnen who was given unprecedented access to mothers while they were in labour.”

Woman Carries “Stone Baby” in Her Stomach for 40 Years

Posted on December 17, 2013 in Life by

When an 82 year-old Colombian woman went to the doctor for her stomach pains, she never expected to hear that she was carrying a 40-year-old “stone baby.” The condition, known as lithopedion, or stone baby, occurs when the baby begins developing outside the womb. Because a woman’s stomach is not suitable to sustaining life, the body fights what it believes to be an infection by calcifying the unborn child. The result is a “stone baby” that can go undetected for years.

It’s interesting to note that even the laymen’s term for this condition, “stone baby” makes reference to the fact that what is inside the woman is indeed a baby. Just as kidney stones or gall stones refer to the type of stone growing inside a person, so too does this name, stone baby, refer to what is inside the woman: a baby.

Even when things don’t happen as they should in order to produce a healthy, living baby, the humanity of the unborn can be seen. Click here for original article.

Regulating the Abortion Industry Takes Uncommon Common Sense

Posted on December 4, 2013 in Life, Public Policy by

Planned Parenthood vehemently opposes any laws requiring abortionists to have admitting privileges at local hospitals. Abortion advocates often refer to such laws as TRAP laws – Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers – and say their sole purpose is to put undue burden and stigma on abortionists. But is that the truth behind these laws?

First, let’s be clear about what laws requiring admitting privileges are. These laws simply require that any medical professional that performs any type of invasive surgical procedure hold admitting privileges at a hospital close to the clinic where the procedures are being performed. Admitting privileges simply means the medical professional is allowed to attend to the needs of their patient should something go wrong and the person need to be admitted to the hospital.

So, in essence, all these laws are doing is to require a person performing medical procedures be allowed to serve their patient at a local hospital should something go wrong. That seems like an easy to understand, common sense requirement for any medical professional; one that a doctor would gladly endorse in an effort to serve his or her patients.

Anna Higgins: Good Will Come from Albuquerque

Posted on November 21, 2013 in Life by

If you paid attention to the vote that took place in Albuquerque this week you were disappointed by the defeat of a ballot measure aimed at protecting unborn children. Voters rejected a measure that would have banned abortion after five months. This is the point in pregnancy when an unborn child can feel pain, which makes abortion nothing less than cruel torture and murder.

While the defeat of this measure might be immediately disappointing, Family Research Council researcher Anna Higgins says good will come from this very public battle:

“The hard work that was put into the measure was not in vain. Due to efforts such as these, people are waking up to the fact that abortion necessarily involves two lives and that late term abortion is an unnecessary evil. In fact, 64% of Americans support banning the practice of late-term abortion. We must build on this effort in [Albuquerque] and begin to introduce similar legislation in cities across the country. These efforts go a long way towards exposing the truth about abortion. They also force those who support the heinous practice to defend themselves in light of the reality that abortion causes excruciating pain to the preborn child and is dangerous for the mother.” Click here to read original article.

Reasons: To Have An Abortion Or Not

Posted on November 15, 2013 in Life by

Two articles caught my attention recently. One was from a “parenting” website called “Mommyish” at which a blogger shared a list of reasons to kill your unborn child. Now, I don’t know for sure if the irony of advocating child murder on a parenting website was lost on the writer, but it wasn’t lost on me.

The list of reasons this blogger felt were worthy of killing an unborn child is below.
