When Planned Parenthood Talks About “Donating Tissue” This Is What They Mean

Posted on November 23, 2015 in Life by

Planned Parenthood has used this smoke and mirrors tactic for many years, but recently, thanks to the efforts of groups like the Center for Medical Progress and Live Action, the shiny exterior Planned Parenthood has tirelessly defended is now terribly tarnished. In fact, if it were not for their partnership with the most pro-abortion president in American history, I have no doubt Planned Parenthood would be nearly non-existent. They are sustained primarily by our tax dollars, secured by President Obama and defended by his administration.

Now that the smoke is dissipating, Planned Parenthood is working night and day to preserve their reputation. This can be seen in their decision to “stop selling baby body parts.” While they continue to claim that they’ve done nothing wrong, and are within the boundaries of the law, they suddenly decided to release a statement about their decision. An article carries Cecile Richards’ statement:

Church Bullies: Who They Are and How To Spot Them

Posted on April 8, 2015 in Theology by

Bullying is a central topic in the news these days. Truthfully, I would not be surprised if everyone has been bullied at least once in their lives. When I was a kid in school I was bullied for various reasons; of course at that time I didn’t know it was bullying, we just called it teasing. People are much more sensitive to bullying today than they were a few decades ago.

So it would not be much of a surprise if we all sat around sharing our stories of being bullied in school, or college, or in athletics. What would be a surprise, however, is if we all say around and shared our stories of being bullied…in church!

There’s an old (sad) adage that says “Christians are the meanest people in the world.” Another similar (and equally sad) adage says “if you want to learn to fight, join a church.”

It’s unfortunate that people supposedly filled with grace, love, joy, and humility are often some of the meanest, rudest, most hateful and hate-filled people in town. And sadly, most churches have at least one “church bully” in their midst.

I know how mean church people can be; I’m a pastor’s son and have seen and heard more than any person should. On top of that, I spent more than a decade serving churches in various capacities. I’ve been behind closed doors more often than I care to admit. But I never connected the concepts of bullying with people in church until I read a couple of articles that made this obvious.

The first article centered on characteristics of church bullies, you can read it here. See if these characteristics fit the “church bully” you have come to dread:

10 Pro-Abortion Phrases We Hope Will Disappear Forever

Posted on December 15, 2014 in Life by

In an article posted at LifeNews.com, Kristi Burton Brown has compiled a list of the top 10 pro-abortion phrases she hopes will disappear. I must say, it’s a great list. Take a look at the following list and see if you agree. Better yet, see if there is any words or phrases missing that you would like to see added to this list. Prayerfully, 2015 will be the year we see more unborn lives saved and come closer to the day when Roe v. Wade is overturned once and for all.

1) “Termination” of Pregnancy: Since pregnancy is also “terminated” (or “ended”) through birth, this is a deceptive way to describe abortion.

2) “Reproductive Justice”: This phrases amounts to an odd myth. Suffice it to say that fancy words do not a moral murder make.

How to Utilize Social Media Wisely as a Christian Leader

Posted on August 6, 2014 in Theology by

Just this Sunday my pastor urged caution to people using social media. He reminded us all that words said on social media, like words said in person, are permanent. On the heels of that cautionary reminder I read an article by Thom Rainer entitled “Seven Warnings for Church Leaders Who Use Social Media.”

Rainer is an expert in church growth and health with Lifeway, an arm of the Southern Baptist Convention. Rainer has spent several decades learning about what helps a church grow, and what causes churches to die. He is the first to say that utilizing social media is a must for any pastor and church in our culture. Rainer readily admits that the lack of social media use, even the fear of it, contributes to the closing of churches each and every day.

So Rainer is not against social media by any stretch of the imagination. But he is wise in his counsel on how to properly use social media. Rainer writes:

What!? Things Abortion Advocates Say

Posted on June 5, 2014 in Life by

A recent article at LifeNews.com captures the words of abortion advocates. These aren’t made up, these are real supporters of abortion speaking. The things they say are downright scary, angering, and absurd. See if you agree.
Have you ever wondered what Planned Parenthood’s real agenda is? Have you ever considered the real goals behind abortion? Have you ever thought about what abortion really is, according to the people who do it every today?

Wonder no longer. Instead, consider – really ponder – these eight scary statements said by abortion activists. The people who said these things aren’t random humans pulled from an aisle in a grocery store; they’re people who are deeply involved with abortion. They know the truth; they know the facts; they know how tragic and cruel abortion is to real, living human beings.

So listen up.

Why Should Anyone Believe What a Christian Says?

Posted on May 21, 2014 in Sexuality, Theology by

It’s hard to read news headlines each day. I try to stay informed by maintaining a robust news aggregator service that I check daily. This allows me to read several hundred headlines each day and keeps me as informed as any person would want to be. But I admit that it is a difficult task.
Part of the difficulty is reading headlines related to Christians.

With all that Christians face from a lost and dying world each day it only compounds our burdens when we harm ourselves and the Gospel from within. When Christians behave in such a way so as to bring shame and embarrassment upon the Gospel we preach and the name of Jesus we are doing no one any favors. Most of all, we are helping to push others further away from Christ rather than being a tool to draw them to the Savior.

Here’s a headline I wish didn’t exist: “Peeping Pastor Pleads Guilty to Very Creepy Crime.” The article reports:
