The Shack: Why This Popular Book and Movie Should Be Condemned by Christians

Posted on March 22, 2017 in Theology by

And then there is the favorite Christian excuse: “well, if it leads one person to Jesus it’s okay with me.” What a cowardly, damnable position to take. I should know; I used to take that position. I used to be of the opinion that anything that could lead a person toward Jesus was a good thing. The problem is that when the thing you are using to lead people to Jesus doesn’t accurately reflect the truth of who Jesus is, you are leading people to a false Jesus, a false Gospel, and a lie. Furthermore, you are creating an idol. Anything, book, movie, or preacher that does not biblically represent Jesus is creating an idol for others to worship. For this reason, movies like The Shack are little more than heretical portrayals of God in need of rebuke by Christians, not support.

Young People Explain Why They Want to Be a Virgin Until Marriage

Posted on June 16, 2014 in Marriage, Sexuality by

People wanting to remain a virgin until marriage are often confronted by a society that thinks they are strange, or that there’s something wrong with them. Sadly, our society is so sex-obsessed that anyone who is not, is considered strange. But, thankfully, young people are choosing to remain abstinent and sharing their reasons with others. Using a popular smartphone app, Whisper, which assures users of absolute privacy and anonymity, people are sharing their purpose for staying pure with others.

Here’s one of the images shared in a recent article showing the reason one user is staying a virgin until marriage. Click here for the full article which contains many more images.

Biblical Illiteracy: It’s Not Just Younger Generations That Are “Embarrassingly Ignorant” of Their Faith

Posted on April 18, 2014 in Theology by

In recent years I’ve often said that one of the most challenging dynamics for churches to overcome is biblical illiteracy. Presently it seems to me that there is an abundance of biblical illiteracy in the church among both lay-people and leaders alike. That being the case it is easy to see how the church has lost much of its power, influence, and cultural relevance.

The church has experienced loss in a broad range of areas – numbers, giving, baptisms – over the last decade and a half as it simultaneously faces unprecedented persecution from government. Prominent pastors have publicly endorsed and embraced heretical doctrines (think Rob Bell’s “no hell” doctrine), while others have publicly endorsed sin (such as homosexuality). Constant in-fighting over non-essentials (alcohol, tribulation, carpet color) has also served to disillusion younger generations that see a lack of authenticity.

For me, personally, nothing is as pressing and critical as the issue of biblical literacy. This is far more than the ability to read the Bible and understand it; this is about being able to rightly govern one’s life through the filter of grace, redemption, and sanctification. What’s missing currently is a biblical worldview that shapes and informs every aspect of life to the place that sanctification becomes evident.

Video: March for Life Participants In Their Own Words

If there is no fundamental, basic right to life, can any other rights really exist? That is a question that all people should ask when discussing the issue of abortion. If we as humans have the “right” to kill another living human being what other rights do we really have?

Every year on the anniversary of the infamous Roe V. Wade decision the March 4 Life takes place in Washington, D.C. Despite nearly non-existent media coverage the March 4 Life is the largest protest march in our nation’s capitol every year.

While the media tries to portray pro-lifers as old, cranky men trying to wage a “war on women,” the face of the pro-life movement is composed of young men and women that understand the evil of abortion. To get a better idea of why so many people would brave freezing temperatures each year to participate in the March 4 Life, take a look at this short video. You will hear from participants as they explain in their own words why they march.

Photos of March for Life Reveal the Face of the Pro-Life Movement

Posted on January 26, 2014 in Life, Public Policy by

Maybe you missed the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. last week. It certainly did not gain a lot of media attention as they continue their complicit partnership with the abortion industry. But hundreds of thousands of people braved cold temperatures to march in the nation’s capitol showing their support for life.

The photos below show one striking feature about the force behind the pro-life movement. While the media tries to claim it is old men seeking to “oppress women,” these photos reveal an enormous number of young people, and women. In other words, those driving the pro-life movement are young people and women that have been impacted by abortion in some way.
