Will Boys Be Playing On Your Daughters Team Soon? Here’s the Answer

Psychiatrist Keith Ablow plans to keep speaking against encouraging transgenderism in children despite death threats.
While it’s good to know people are willing to oppose dangerous “science” and speak out against things that may be harmful to children, it’s also sad that such a need exists. Yet, the realm of transgenderism is one such area where amidst growing cries for rights, some voices are urging caution.
In the wake of a California law that took effect in January allowing students in California to decide for themselves which bathroom to use and which sports team to play on based on their perceived gender, Ablow wrote:
“As of January 1, students in California public schools have been able to choose whether to use the boys’ rest room or girls’ rest room, as well as the girls’ locker room or boys’ locker room, based on whether they feel female or male, not whether they are anatomically female or male…I believe that allowing this ‘choice’ is profoundly destructive, psychologically, to all students, including the ones who identify themselves as transgender…I believe that children have enough to deal with as they struggle to feel comfortable with their bodies, with the notion of privacy and with later changes involving puberty without urging them to grapple with the notion that their souls may have been born into the wrong bodies.”
Ablow is taking a wise, common sense approach to a difficult topic, especially as it pertains to underage children. It’s also worth noting that the so-called “bathroom bill” that was passed in California is now under heavy opposition from parents and facing legal challenges in court.
Aside from the challenges the new law is facing, it is also creating a challenging environment for students and parents in the public schools where it was implemented. One such incident is that of a young man that believes he is a girl and now wants to play on the girls’ softball team. Based on the new law, his school, Azusa High School, is required to let him compete on the girl’s team. The school says that anyone that is uncomfortable with this arrangement will get used to it and that eventually everyone will be very accepting.
But not everyone is pleased with the decision. Some are seeing this as a mix of pushing a sexualized agenda and an unfair advantage for a team allowing boys to play against girls. The president for SaveCalifornia.com said:
“It’s intolerable of this young man to not accept an equal standing of girls playing girls…It is categorically unfair to biological girls to have to compete with a sexually-confused young man with stronger upper body strength, who makes the game board decidedly ‘unequal.”
Apart from ideology, the idea of a boy playing on a girls’ team seems patently unfair. Whether it is proper to talk about or not, the fact remains that males are physically stronger and enjoy better motor skills, including coordination and other skills needed to play sports, than do females. Of course that is not a slight on any female; it is simply a matter of biology. If you don’t believe that’s true, ask yourself this question: who would win in a head-to-head game between the all-stars from the NBA and WNBA?
The issue of biology is still important. Up until now we as a society have recognized the importance of allowing girls and boys to compete on equal grounds as genders. But the gender bender’s are pushing those lines in a way that will no doubt present an unfair advantage to some. Furthermore, and more importantly, they are pushing the lines of gender-identity in a dangerous direction.
I’m certainly not trying to make light of this subject. I want to present both a practical side to the issue and a deeper, more philosophical side. The issue of sexual confusion is no laughing matter and presents complicated aspects that need addressed. These aspects need addressed by people like Dr. Ablow that is willing to stand up and raise the red flag of caution despite death threats.
Transgenderism is simply another aspect of a radical sexual agenda that advocates are seeking to normalize in our society. It’s part of a flexi-sexuality that seeks to remove norms from sexual identity and replace them with perception rather than biology. In adults this is dangerous enough, encouraging this confusion in children is nothing short of abuse. Polls show that transgender teens experience higher levels of mental distress than others and still our culture wants to encourage this confusion.
Consider the case of a woman that is now suing her former employer for referring to her in female terms such as “her” and “she” even though she asked them to stop. The former employee believes she is neither male nor female and asked to be referred to in gender neutral terms. But since she looked like a woman her co-workers continued to refer to her as such leading the woman to quit her job and sue her former employer for “humiliation and suffering.”
Regarding the case of Valeria Jones, a recent article reports:
“Jones claims her coworkers repeatedly referred to her as ‘miss’ ‘lady,’ and ‘little lady’ even after she told them she believes she is ‘not a female or a male’ and asked them to use gender neutral words when speaking to or about her. According to the suit, her coworkers failed to do so, insisting that she “looked like a woman” and comparing her to a female celebrity whom they believed looked similar to Jones.”
Cases like this could become common place if the federal ENDA law being pushed through Congress is ever signed into law. More importantly, the fact that a biological woman believes she is neither male nor female is troubling.
When a person, through societal encouragement or other means, is led to disavow their biological gender I think we as a society have a problem. The sexual revolution of the 60’s is coming full circle to its logical conclusion. We have a society where people are now being convinced they are neither male nor female, which means they are…what? Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, there is only male or female. Try as you might you cannot invent a gender; you can’t be what you were not created to be. Consequently, you are either male or female, according to your biology.
I know that is not a popular thing to say. Some would say I am insensitive, or intolerant, etc. But, encouraging confusion or telling people to deny their biology is not being accepting or tolerant, it’s dangerous. Encouraging this kind of mental and sexual confusion will only lead to further instability and unrest in society as people seek acceptance for a lifestyle that is unnatural.
Frankly, I’m heartbroken for young people that are confused to the point that they are attempting to reject their biological gender and encouraged to do so by society. I find that to be a particularly heinous form of child abuse. Allowing boys to play on girls’ sports teams and use girls bathrooms won’t alleviate the internal turmoil these hurting young people are experiencing. Preying on them for political gain and to drive an agenda is another form of abuse that merits condemnation.
Dr. Ablow may be garnering death threats for his position, but at least he’s willing to share the truth. He doesn’t seem confused at all about the issue.
