Girl Scout CEO Lies on Video About Planned Parenthood Partnership After Cookie-Cot Hurts Profits
Posted on March 10, 2014 in Life by Nathan Cherry
The situation with the Girl Scouts is heating up and will soon reach an irreversible boiling point. Not only is the fact that the Girl Scouts have a partnership with Planned Parenthood hurting the organization, it is hurting enough that spokesmen and the CEO have both gone on primetime media to try and reassure America. Unfortunately for them the evidence is so damaging and their lies so blatant that it will be very hard to recover.
Let’s first be clear, this is not made up news lacking evidence. For anyone still unsure of whether or not the Girl Scouts are tied to Planned Parenthood, I encourage you to read the very detailed article that Lifenews.com posted showing the storied history between the two organizations. Among the items of interest in the article are photographs of newspaper articles dating all the way back to the 1960’s. Some of those headlines read:
1972 Planned Parenthood conducts workshop for Girl Scouts, 1985: Abortion Foes Ask Girl Scouts to Cut Planned Parenthood Ties, 1985 Girls Scouts review co-sponsorship with Planned Parenthood, 1990 Girl Scout leader shows Planned Parenthood film to troop, 2004: Parents upset the Girl Scouts gave a Woman of the Year award to a Planned Parenthood Executive.
With these examples of an obvious partnership between these two organizations it seems nothing short of deceptive to claim that no such partnership exists. Especially when former CEO Kathy Cloninger admitted on national television that the Girl Scouts do indeed have a partnership with Planned Parenthood. With all this evidence against any claim that no such partnership exists, why would the current CEO and other spokesmen lie and deny the partnership exists?
First and foremost you must understand that the Girl Scouts, along with their partner Planned Parenthood is primarily a money-making business. While one group claims to care about women’s health (Planned Parenthood), they perform procedures that harm women’s health. The abortion-break cancer link is now undeniable. The other group (Girl Scouts) claims to care about teaching girls to be strong, independent women. But in order to do that they partner with organizations that advocate things that harm women. And let’s not forget the fact that the Girl Scouts encourage young girls to become sexually experimental and active at a young age, while promoting birth control, contraceptives, and abortion. And who do you think will be there when they need those things? Ding! Ding! That’s right, Planned Parenthood.
So we’ve established that the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood are indeed partners, even as their leaders lie and deny such a partnership exists. Pro-life website Lifenews.com has been exposing this truth for quite a while and was recently threatened with a lawsuit if they did not “cease and desist” spreading such “lies.” Fox News reported on the incident:
“Steven Ertelt, the editor of LifeNews.com, posted the letter he received from Girl Scouts Chief Licensing Executive Eric Crawford to the website. In it, Crawford denies LifeNews.com’s allegation the organization has ties to or a relationship with Planned Parenthood, and demands the website immediately cease its use of the Girl Scouts logo, which was included in some of their stories.”
Obviously the Girl Scouts feel threatened by the continued exposure of their link to Planned Parenthood and their push to glamorize and normalize immoral sexual activity and abortion. So they attempted to intimidate and silence their critics. Thankfully, LifeNews.com’s legal team responded with a letter stating the website is within the “fair use” criteria needed to use the name and logo of the Girl Scouts and that their stories are protected by the First Amendment’s free speech rights. They have no intention of backing down and I, for one, am thankful for that.
In response to the negative press by many news outlets across the nation, current Girl Scout CEO Anna Marie-Chavez went on You Tube to once again lie about the partnership between the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood. She said:
“Recently, various individuals and organizations announced their intention to boycott GS cookies this year, based on mistaken beliefs about our movement. These same individuals also believe the Girl Scouts has become too political. We do not now, nor have we ever, had a relationship with Planned Parenthood. Girl Scouts of the USA believes that reproductive issues are deeply private issues best left to families. I find it unsettling that anyone would use the Girl Scout brand to have very adult conversations. A box of Girl Scout cookies is not a political statement.”
Ms. Chavez is not a very good Girl Scout. She either didn’t do her homework to come prepared or she outright lied to the American people about the existence of a partnership with Planned Parenthood. Either way she’s wrong. And the truth is, a box of cookies can very well make a political statement and each one sold by a Girl Scout supports the political agenda of groups like Planned Parenthood. Therefore, they are indeed political and that is unfortunate. (See the video below)
As mentioned before, Lifenews.com has an extensive collection of evidence that the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood are longtime partners. After reading through the list shared in one of their recent articles it is hard to understand how the CEO could, with a straight face, say the two groups have never had a partnership. Has it really become so easy to lie?
In response to the obvious lies from the Girl Scout CEo and spokesmen, Ana Saladin, a former Girl Scout mother that now operates the website www.mygirlscoutcouncil.org, released her own video taking Anna Marie Chavez to task for her lies. (Watch the video here.)
Saladin’s video show convincing evidence to counter the claims of Chavez and once again show that the Girl Scouts have an agenda that is driving their efforts to lie in order to reassure America no partnership with Planned Parenthood exists. This proves that the Girl Scouts cannot be trusted anymore and parents seeking a moral and ethical group for their daughter should look elsewhere. (I suggest the American Heritage Girls.)
By the way, when the 2014 Cookie-Cot began the Girl Scouts laughed and said they were not worried about their sales and profits being harmed. Well, that laughing has come to an end as one of the primary reasons for Chavez’ video was to encourage people to buy cookies. As I said at the beginning, the Girl Scouts is primarily a money-making organization. Now that their profits are being harmed they are ready to do anything to patch the holes and put out the fires; even if that means lying.
I haven’t bought Girl Scout cookies in years. Once I knew they were working with Planned Parenthood I was done with them. It seems other pro-life Americans are fed up with the lies and pushing abortion on our daughters as well. This will either result in real change within the organization, or, the Girl Scouts will continue to see participation and profits fall.
I believe in being responsible with my money as much as humanly possible. While I can’t know how every dollar spent is used, I can pay attention to obvious issues. The fact that the Girl Scouts are so public and vocal about their support for Planned Parenthood – up until now – makes my decision to boycott the organization easy. I refuse, as much as possible; to allow one single dollar I earn to be used to kill an unborn child. The Girl scouts aren’t the first organization I’ve boycotted and probably won’t be the last.
Money is powerful in today’s world. If every pro-life American refused to give the Girl Scouts one dollar you can be sure change would happen. I am a firm believer that we have the ability right now to end abortion in America, we simply don’t want to. Our apathy and preoccupation with our own lives has been exploited by groups like Planned Parenthood and the Girl Scouts for years.
