Is Google Censoring Pro-Life Information?

Posted on May 15, 2014 in Life by

GoogleWait a minute, I thought Google was a place to find information. I thought if I needed to know something, or was looking for some particular bit of information that I was supposed to “Google it” and I would find the answer I was looking for?

Am I wrong about that?

Why then is Google censoring ads based on ideological views simply because some activist group urges them to do so?

In case you missed it, NARAL, a pro-abortion lobby group, pressured Google to remove ads by Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPCs) for being “predatory.” NARAL claims that the ads by CPC’s seek to prey upon misinformed women and deceive them into keeping their unborn child. Well, if deception is the criteria for the pressure on Google why hasn’t NARAL pressured Google to remove all of Planned Parenthood’s ads. By now everyone knows that Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest liar to women about abortion. I don’t see any pressure to remove their ads.

Then again Planned Parenthood and NARAL have the same objective, to kill unborn children. So as long as you are deceiving women into killing their child it’s acceptable to NARAL to lie. But when you try and tell the truth about abortion using medically accurate and biologically factual information, well, that’s just a “deception” NARAL can’t handle.

So they whined to Google and got a few ads removed; or so they said (more on that in a minute). And we’re supposed to celebrate the censoring of information based on political pressure? Hmm, pretty sure that’s a form of tyranny our Founder’s rejected and fled, not celebrated. But hey, this is NARAL’s world, where lies are acceptable and the truth must be suppressed.

CareNet of DuPage was targeted by NARAL. Barbara Singer, president of CareNet Pregnancy Services of DuPage commented:

“CareNet of DuPage applauds Google’s policy of rejecting ads that are misleading, inaccurate, and deceitful.  CareNet provides precisely the service for which it advertises:  objective pregnancy and abortion information. CareNet’s ads have not been rejected by Google; they are both informative and accurate.  CareNet Pregnancy Services of DuPage offers women free services that are truthful, helpful, and promote real choice.  Abortion facilities such as Planned Parenthood are not objective, since they stand to gain financially by selling abortion.”

The reality is that nearly every Care Pregnancy Center I’ve ever worked with or known about has made it a matter of organizational policy to be above reproach concerning the information they share. They don’t pretend to be abortion clinics and don’t want to be remotely associated with them. They consider the routine deception of abortion clinics a scourge and would never seek to emulate them.

I think Illinois Family Institute President David Smith was on to something when he made this comment:

“What is NARAL afraid of? Are they so afraid of competing with truth, love and hope that they have to take dramatic measures to silence pro-life alternatives on the Internet?  If the so-called “right” to abortion is really a woman’s choice, NARAL should be celebrating and promoting the work of CareNet Pregnancy Services and other crisis pregnancy centers.”

So afraid is NARAL and other pro-abortion groups of the massive movement towards defending life and limiting abortion that they are willing to lie just to get media attention. Jill Stanek makes this clear in her follow up article for LifeSiteNews regarding the incident:

“Pro-lifers were immediately alarmed by NARAL’s witch hunt and Google’s apparent capitulation. But now that the dust has settled, it is clear NARAL fabricated this storyline. All major national pregnancy care center organizations have confirmed to myself or fellow pro-life journalists that not one of their prc ads has been pulled from Google. These groups cover the gamut and include CareNetCompassCareHeartbeat InternationalHeroic MediaNational Institute of Family and Life AdvocatesOnline for Life, and Vitae Foundation…Bottom line, NARAL fabricated the Google storyline, and the mainstream media willingly or ignorantly fell for it. NARAL got what it wanted in the short term – free media to tarnish the brand of pregnancy care centers…”

Of course they lied. NARAL is losing customers and money faster than they can count due to the overwhelming support for life. So when you can’t beat your opponent honestly, lie and smear their name. That’s the abortion advocate way.

Perhaps we should let Google know how we feel about their unfounded capitulation to the demands of a corrupt abortion advocate like NARAL. Contact Google to let them know you support life and believe Care Pregnancy Centers deserve the same respect given to other organizations. You can reach Google using the contact information below:
