Overwhelming: A Lack of Morality and Increase in Lawlessness in America
Posted on May 27, 2014 in Public Policy by Nathan Cherry
If you thought 9/11 was a big deal (and it was), what is happening in our world today is even bigger. The events taking place both here in the United States and around the world are changing the course for nations and citizens worldwide.
What is taking place is nothing short of a strategic campaign to overload the system and cause mass confusion that will eventually give more power to politicians and those in power. This is a deliberate tactic of liberals and progressives seeking to radically change the political and social landscape of America. When you overload the system – any system – all it takes is a little misinformation here a little disinformation there and viola new laws are passed, regulations added, taxes raised, and no one is the wiser.
But this is how it has to be. We have to pass laws in order to find out what’s in them. It’s worked so well with ObamaCare, why not do it again with gun laws, marriage laws, abortion laws, religious freedom laws, search and seizure laws, and any other laws liberals don’t like and want to change. As long as liberals can create a distraction big enough to keep America’s attention for a week or two they can hold late night meetings in Congress and pass or change any laws they want.
Hey, who cares if majorities in 40 countries find abortion and homosexuality morally wrong, let’s just keep telling everyone that they are fundamental rights and make them completely legal with no regulations. In fact, what we should do is convince people, even Christians, that abortion and same-sex “marriage” are human rights that every person deserves unfettered access to. There’s nothing like giving indulgent people access to their most depraved desires under the guise of compassion and human rights.
The script being played out in our society comes from the most average socialist manifesto. The problem is that average Americans are below average in their ability to reason and recognize the dangers presenting themselves. Just as a Holocaust survivor if they recognize what is taking place in America and the answer will shock you. The same tactics used by Hitler to gain power and exterminate the Jews are being used with terrifying success in America today.
Our schools are being overwhelmed by federal government regulations to the point that everyone from teachers and parents to administrators are confused. College campuses are supposed to be training young adults and preparing them for their future but seem more interested in pushing a radicalized agenda of sex and abortion. What does it say about our colleges when students don’t even know what Benghazi is?
“What difference does it make?”
That might be the absurd response from Hillary Clinton regarding Benghazi, Fast and Furious, ObamaCare, or any number of other scandals hobbling our country. But it should not be the apathetic response from Americans.
In case you haven’t noticed, violence and lawlessness is increasing in America. No, I don’t think it’s because of guns and that we should take them all away. Though I know some liberals and closet socialists/communists that do. They say if we take all the guns then everyone will be safe because only law enforcement will have weapons. I guess they didn’t read that part in their World History book where Hitler did the same thing. And guess what, he used the ole “it’s all about safety and the kids” routine as well.
Pastor Jim Garlow of San Diego’s Skyline Church is understandably concerned for the lawlessness we are seeing:
“I do not recall in my lifetime anything remotely close to what we are seeing. For the law enforcer in Washington D.C., the chief in America, to tell the Attorneys General across the states that you don’t have to enforce the law if you don’t like it. That is beyond anything I was taught in school. Rule of law and consent of the governed has been lost.”
Garlow is referencing when Attorney General Eric Holder instructed states attorney’s general that they did not have to enforce or defend laws they did not believe were constitutional. This is a blatant violation of both federal and state constitutions that detail how laws are passed and changed. Such a dangerous statement leaves every law in question and paves the way for anarchy.
But when we look at the increasing amount of school violence, work-place violence, and police violence there is also cause for concern. Particularly troubling for me is the increased level of police brutality and abuse toward Americans. If the American police and military forces can be co-opted to fight against American citizens – even in violation of the Constitution – we are but one step away from a military state that leads to socialism and communism.
America is in a moral decline that has never been seen before on our shores. Our president asks God to bless Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion merchant in the world. Our military service men and women are being persecuted for their faith. Christians are being denied jobs or even fired for simply holding to traditional, biblical convictions.
The list of people being persecuted for their faith is not just long, it’s being added to daily. We could look at the case of the photographer in New Mexico that was fined and convicted of discrimination for refusing to photograph a same-sex ceremony. Or the baker in Colorado that was sued for refusing to bake a cake for a homosexual wedding. Or even the florist in Washington that was sued by her state attorney general for refusing to offer her services for a homosexual wedding. In each case citizens cited their religious convictions as the reason they could not serve. But in several cases people were told they would be compelled, forced against their convictions to serve, and that such service was the “price of citizenship” in America. Such a chilling statement.
Even those who are not particularly religious are being persecuted for adhering to traditional values. Brendan Eich was forced to resign at Mozilla because he supports traditional marriage. There’s no evidence that he ever discriminated against a single person, he just simply supports traditional marriage and that was enough for the gay mafia to seek his head on a platter. They got it.
Benghazi, Fast and Furious, ObamaCare, Putin and Russia, Syria, Iran, North Korea, China, national debt and deficit, Planned Parenthood fraud and abuse cover ups, euthanasia, federal judges making up the law, attorney’s general ignoring the law, police brutality, drone strikes, Christian persecution, marriage redefinition, Islamic terrorism, failing schools, more taxes, and on the list goes.
Our country and this world are in need of help. Our morality has been lost and replaced with culturally sanctioned views that everyone is being compelled to accept. The problem is that this new morality is arbitrary and based on prevailing social and political winds. There is no absolute standard of truth, no absolute right and wrong anymore.
Now is not the time for Christians to sink into their pews and be silent. Now more than ever is a time when we should ask for a spirit of boldness that will lead us to stand and speak truth into our culture. With love, grace, and truth Christians should be seeking opportunities daily to share the transcendent truth of God’s Word with a culture in decay. Only the Gospel has the power to pierce the partisan agendas and ideological walls put in place by people. People need Jesus and it’s our job, Christians, to share Him with those that need Him most.
