Did You Know? Senate Bill Seeks to Wipe Out Every Pro Life Law Against Abortion

Over the past 40 plus years since the passing of Roe V. Wade many pro- life laws have been passed to protect the unborn. From 2011 to 2013 at least 160 laws were passed. More importantly, the pro-life position and message is winning the hearts of people as science helps people see the humanity of the unborn.
Now imagine that all the progress made by the pro-life movement was wiped out with one piece of legislation.
Every law against partial birth abortion – gone.
Every law requiring parental notification before abortion – gone.
Every law requiring medical standards for abortion clinics – gone.
Every law requiring abortionists to have admitting privileges at local hospitals – gone.
Every law limiting tax funding for abortions – gone.
That is what a new bill in the Senate would do if passed. S. 1696, deceivingly called the “Women’s Health Protection Act” would unilaterally wipe out the pro-life laws of every state. A recent article at LifeNews shares these details:
“S. 1696 attempts to override U.S. Supreme Court precedent and other legal standards and would logically permit abortionists to set the standard of care for their patients with no oversight from the state and no effective remedies for the abortion industry’s abuses. This bill could reasonably be interpreted to invalidate virtually any type of state restriction or regulation on abortion, and would also prohibit the future enactment of any of these laws.”
Abortion advocates are fond of saying that abortion is a “woman’s choice.” But many women are choosing life due in part to advanced science that shows just how human the unborn truly are. Groups like Planned Parenthood can no longer hide behind their lies that unborn children are “blobs of tissue,” in the face of convincing scientific evidence. The result has been a wave of pro-life laws and sentiment across the U.S. over the past decade.
In fact, so strong is this sentiment that groups like Planned Parenthood have been forced to close clinics at an alarming rate. And were it not for the tax money given to them by President Obama they would be in a far more precarious position. But the most pro-abortion president in U.S. history has made sure Planned Parenthood keeps their doors open to the tune of more than $500 million in taxpayer money per year.
But even this federal money can’t stem the tide of pro-life conviction sweeping our culture. More and more people are understanding that abortion does indeed kill an innocent human being. And while militant abortionists remain unfazed by even the most convincing science, many are abandoning the abortion cause (and industry) in favor of the pro-life position.
For this reason analysts believe that the overturning of Roe V. Wade is a matter of time. Abortionists also know their time is short and are seeking to usurp any Supreme Court decision by passing this federal law; a law that would effectively keep abortion, from conception to birth, legal, for any reason, in every state.
Do we really want to live in a country where an unborn child can be killed on the day of his or her birth just because the mother changes her mind? Do we want to live in a country where unborn children are not protected from the Kermit Goznells and Douglas Karpens of the world?
A world in which a living human being can be killed as it is being born (partial birth abortion) is a world where no one is safe. If the sanctity of life does not extend to the living inside the womb, then certainly the elderly, the aged, the ill, the diseased will be targeted. The underlying belief behind abortion is that people are expendable and utilitarian; only our contribution to industry or government really matters. Anyone who cannot contribute is seen as less than human, worthy of termination.
S. 1696 is a life killing bill; a bill that will cheapen and devalue humans both inside and outside the womb. Congress has no business even considering such a bill and hopefully people like you will let them know that. I we refuse to take a stand and be a voice for the unborn, we can be sure there will be no one to stand and speak for us when the time comes.
