Quiz: Do You Know How to Prevent Pregnancy? Apparently There’s Some Confusion.

Posted on July 15, 2014 in Life, Sexuality by

pregnancy education Let’s test our basic biology and anatomy skills. Assuming we are all adults with a semi-intellectual understanding of the human body and how it works, this should be easy. Here’s the question:

What is the only way to ensure with absolute certainty a woman will not get pregnant?

That may seem like a silly question. It might even sound a bit odd considering the single, obvious answer. And yet some people have a hard time with the question and the answer.

In case you are not sure of the answer, it’s abstinence. Now, if you’re ever on Jeopardy and have a chance for a daily double you will know the right answer.

This should not be a debatable statement. It shouldn’t even be a statement worth discussing or questioning. I have a hard time taking seriously any person that would attempt, on any level to contradict this statement. And unless someone can show me another method that is 100% effective at preventing pregnancy we can all agree that abstinence is the only answer. Agreed?

Okay, now that we have the formalities out of the way let’s move on and discuss why anyone would disagree with the fact that abstinence is the only way to avoid pregnancy.

Only a conservative person could possibly draw the ire of liberals by daring to make the statement that pregnancy is 100% preventable by abstinence. Logically, factually, scientifically, this is an accurate statement. The problem is that many liberals don’t live in a logical, factual, scientific world, they live in a world where emotions, desires, and preference reign supreme.

So when a person, let’s say, Rush Limbaugh, says that pregnancy is preventable by women “if they didn’t do a certain thing,” of course liberals get angry.

Limbaugh was responding to a radio caller who was trying to reconcile the fact that the government believes it necessary to mandate coverage for birth control and abortion pills but not dental or eye exams. Hmm, there’s a great question for the ObamaCare framers. Limbaugh responded to the caller by saying:

“We had a caller yesterday that asked me this question. When did birth control pills become so important to the human condition that the federal government requires every insurance policy to cover them? Eye exams, dental exams, dental work are not mandated by Obamacare, but contraception is. Birth control pills are. Which is worse? To go blind from lack of regular eye exams, or to get pregnant? And again, pregnancy is something that you have to do to ’cause. It doesn’t just happen to you while you’re walking down the street except in the case of sexual abuse. But in a normal, everyday flow of events, pregnancy requires action that has consequences, and yet we treat it as a great imposition that women need to be protected from. It’s a sickness. It’s a disease, it’s whatever and there’s got to be a pill for it. And yet, they wouldn’t have the problem if they didn’t do a certain thing. It’s that simple.”

The Huffington Post just couldn’t handle all the common sense logic from Limbaugh and decided it was their duty to remind the country that Limbaugh called Sandra Fluke a slut. Their entire article was framed with comments related to Sandra Fluke and previous comments by Limbaugh about her. The lack of journalistic rigor in their article was hard to stomach.

But wait, the reason for liberal ire was right there in front of your face and you might have missed it. Rush Limbaugh actually said that sexual choices have consequences.

WHAT?!

Doesn’t he know that sexual activity is a human right? Doesn’t he know that every person deserves, nay, must be sexually active and fulfilled in order to be a fully functioning, healthy, productive, member of society?

How dare Rush Limbaugh state that sexual choices have consequences. We live in the “enlightened” age where everyone knows that at our core, at our very heart, we are nothing more than sexual beasts that need to fulfill our most base, basic desires. If another human being is conceived as a result of fulfilling our adult desires then our “enlightened” society has created a pill to take care of “the problem.”

This narrative, being spun by the left, is infecting the hearts and minds of younger generations. There’s a reason groups like Planned Parenthood and GLSEN want to start teaching explicit sex-education to kids in Kindergarten (something that has already begun in Chicago). There’s a reason Planned Parenthood is willing to cover up rape and help pimps and sex-traffickers hide their crimes in order to perform abortions.

Our society is not just attempting to redefine marriage. It is seeking to redefine sexuality into a basic human right. The message being communicated is that you, at any age, have the right to be sexually fulfilled and no one can tell you otherwise. And, in the off chance you find yourself in “trouble” either sexually, or by creating another human life, well, we can help you “fix” such problems.

But, and this is the most important thing, we want you to be as sexually active as you desire without worrying about any consequences. And please, by all means, ignore anyone that tries to suggest that sexual activity is a responsibility that carries weight and consequences. That’s just crazy talk.

In essence what The Huffington Post and other liberals outraged at Limbaugh’s statement are doing, is arguing that sexual activity has no consequences and abstinence is an absurd, old-fashioned, outdated, unneeded ideological remnant of days past. True, no one can contradict the fact that abstinence is the only 100% effective way to prevent pregnancy. It’s just a scientific and biological fact. But that doesn’t stop them from arguing it’s unrealistic, or even unhealthy.

A society that values sexual activity above the life of an unborn child is one in which every life is in danger. When life is so dehumanized and demoralized as to be considered a “problem” needing fixed, we’ve lost something. We’ve lost an aspect of morality that is critical in ensuring freedom. Life, now, is nothing more than an idea that hasn’t reached reality until someone else says so.

The problem is that arbitrary definitions of life lead to killing very real people.
