In light of the Supreme Court’s decision to reject appeals from five states concerning the issue of marriage, thereby effectively legalizing same-sex “marriage” in those five states, I found a couple of other articles interesting.

Shouting just below the clamor of those rejoicing at the Supreme Court’s decision, and the advancement of same-sex “marriage” in general, is the common sense warning signs of the dangers of this lifestyle. First are the physical/health dangers inherent within homosexuality.

According to a recent “Morbidity and Mortality” report by the Centers for Disease Control, while gay men make up just 2% of America’s population, they account for nearly two-thirds of all HIV cases. A recent article states:

“Gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (MSM) make up 2 percent of the U.S. population but are the group most definitively affected by HIV, with 63 percent of those newly infected by HIV representing this group. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s weekly ‘Morbidity and Mortality’ report shows that among persons newly infected with HIV in 2010, 63 percent were men who have sex with other men. Among Americans living with HIV, 52 percent were MSM – and a significant number of men with HIV are not receiving treatment.”

The report goes on to say that anal sex is the most predominant way of spreading and contracting HIV and men who have sex with multiple male partners are at the highest risk. This fact can clearly be seen in the statistics.

So what exactly are we celebrating?

We throwing a party at the fact that the Supreme Court has now ensured that a lifestyle which is inherently dangerous to a person’s health will be further advanced. Activists don’t like to talk about these finer points of homosexuality because it undermines their goals to eradicate traditional marriage. You certainly won’t hear many reports in the mainstream media of the link between homosexuality and HIV.

But if we’re going to have an honest conversation about this topic we have to face facts. The reality is that there is an inherent danger in homosexuality and bisexuality that doesn’t exist in monogamous heterosexuality. Because homosexuality is embroiled in the hookup culture and casual sex there is a far greater chance of being infected with HIV through that lifestyle than any other. The same can be said for bisexuality. However, the number of cases of newly infected HIV patients as a result of monogamous heterosexuality is nearly non-existent.

But that is only one danger. Another danger of a devolving sexual ethic is that it will further devolve. For right now the spotlight is squarely on homosexuals and their efforts to gain legitimacy in society for their lifestyle. But what happens when other “sexual orientations” do the same thing?

One such “sexual orientation” that is gaining popularity among social reconstruction advocates is pedophilia. It’s hard to even utter those words as the thought of legitimizing such a disease strikes at every moral fiber in my being. The idea that some would seek to make predators of children the victims in need of sympathy is repugnant. And yet, that is exactly what an article in The New York Times seeks to do:

“The nation’s tough anti-pedophilia laws are unfair to pedophiles, according to an op-ed published by The New York Times’ editors. ‘One can live with pedophilia and not act on it,’ says Margo Kaplan, an entrepreneurial assistant law professor at Rutgers University, and a former lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union. Tragically, the roughly 1 percent of ‘people who are sexually attracted to children] must hide their disorder from everyone they know — or risk losing educational and job opportunities, and face the prospect of harassment and even violence,’ she wrote.”

So now we have lobbyists arguing for greater advancement for homosexuals, a lifestyle which is inherently dangerous to a person’s health; as well as legitimization for pedophiles. And once again the crowning achievement of our society has to do with sexuality. We have become so debased morally that we view sexuality as nothing more than a social function or hobby. And we hold that function or hobby in such low esteem that we will encourage people to hurt themselves or others in order to participate.

Our fondness for pleasure has led us to devalue people so far that we now see them only by their sexual label. And even those labels are temporary, shifting, and fluid. But we are perfectly willing to create laws applicable to the whole based on the fluid label of a few; even if that means some kids are harmed in the process. I think we finally see where all this is going. We can finally see the light at the end of this dark tunnel and it turns out it’s not light at all, it’s fire.

We’re playing with that fire and there is no doubt we will be burned. Some temporarily. Others, permanently.
