Planned Parenthood Letter: We Need Your Help After the Elections

Wendy Davis Pink SneakersIt’s no secret that conservative lawmakers swept through the country in the recent mid-term elections. It’s also no secret that those lawmakers are strongly pro-life. Though groups like Planned Parenthood try and deny it, the reality is that America is a predominantly pro-life country.

The trend toward life has been steadily increasing every year. On the state level more pro-life laws have been passed in the last three years than in the previous decade combined. The demand for an end to abortion on demand continues to grow and, were it not for the most pro-abortion president in history, we would see federal pro-life laws passed.

At the end of the night when it was obvious that pro-life lawmakers were headed to Washington to be a majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate, it is understandable that abortion advocates became very nervous.

So nervous is Planned Parenthood that they wasted no time in sending a “we really need your support right now” email to their constituents. It’s not a surprise that Planned Parenthood is nervous given the fact that without President Obama they would not receive the $500 million in tax dollars each year they currently enjoy. That’s our money folks…killing babies.

What is a surprise is just how blatantly false and deceptive the email Planned Parenthood sent was.

The first deception in the letter came when Planned Parenthood decided to question when unborn children are people. They wrote:

“Your hard work showed on Election Day, when voters made it crystal clear that they care about standing up for women’s health and rights by defeating so-called “personhood” ballot initiatives in Colorado and North Dakota…”

Now, it’s true that both personhood amendments lost. But the fact that Planned Parenthood feels the need to qualify personhood by placing it in italics tells you all you need to know about their view of unborn children. They don’t believe these were “personhood” amendments, because they don’t believe the unborn are human. That’s why Planned Parenthood continues to call unborn children “blobs of cells” and other nondescript names. If they don’t admit they are children they can deceive unsuspecting women into killing their kids.

The letter goes on to say that help is needed against “the out-of-touch lawmakers who have taken control of Congress.”

Doesn’t Planned Parenthood know those lawmakers were elected – in some cases by enormous majorities – by Americans? Are they saying that both the lawmakers and the people that elected them are “out of touch”? Considering pro-life lawmakers are now in the majority in Congress, and that they were elected by Americans, wouldn’t that indicate that Planned Parenthood and abortion advocates – being in the minority – are the ones “out of touch”?

The reality is that Planned Parenthood has a bias against unborn children and life that is greater than anything else. Their ideological position might have been popular 30 years ago, but the majority of Americans identify as pro-life. Calling us “out of touch” because we don’t agree that killing unborn children is acceptable shows just how “out of touch” Planned Parenthood is.

One of the most puzzling lines in the letter said: “the vast majority of voters in this country want women to make their own personal medical decisions without interference from politicians.”

Umm…if that’s the case why does Planned Parenthood continue to support and endorse pro-abortion candidates? Why do they continue to seek help from President Obama? Planned Parenthood doesn’t seem to have any problem with “interference from politicians” when it helps them and furthers abortion. When that is the case they sheer and celebrate and hold politicians up as brave heroes. But as soon as someone seeks to defend life and enact a law limiting abortion suddenly it is “interference” with a “woman’s choice” and not acceptable. Funny how that works.

So ironic is that statement considering in the very same letter is this statement: “We are not in this fight alone. We’ve got champions and allies in statehouses, in Congress — and especially in the White House. For the next two years, we’re going to rely on those champions like never before. It’s going to be up to President Obama, who’s been our last line of defense so many times, to stand against the out-of-touch lawmakers who have taken control of Congress.”

There it is. The height of irony and hypocrisy: saying that involvement from politicians is “interference” in one breath while declaring that the President is an ally and they need him to continue being involved.

They don’t want to admit it, but Planned Parenthood is scared. For the first time in a number of years Congress is poised to pass some strong pro-life laws to compliment laws being passed at the state level. And though they might say such laws are “out of touch” it is hard to justify such a sentiment when a majority of the people in Congress, sent by a majority of Americans, hold to the same view.

This is an exciting time for pro-life advocates. From state houses to governorships, all the way to Congress, pro-life lawmakers have taken a solid majority in America. For this reason, the continued prayers of people of faith, the dedication of pro-life advocates, and emerging science that shows the humanity of the unborn; there is a very real possibility that we could see Roe v. Wade overturned.

That reality alone is enough to be excited about. Unless of course you are Planned Parenthood.
