VICTORY: Creator of Undercover Planned Parenthood Videos Acquitted of All Charges

A much-needed victory for life against Planned Parenthood happened just as Planned Parenthood CEO Cecil Richards was preparing to speak at the Democratic National Convention.
All charges against David Daleiden of the Center for Medical Progress have been dropped. Daleiden is the man primarily responsible for the damaging undercover videos of various Planned Parenthood executives explaining how they buy and sell aborted baby body parts. The reason this is a big deal is that trafficking aborted baby body parts is a federal crime.
Daleiden and a partner secretly taped the videos, released over the last year, as they conversed with a number of Planned Parenthood executives directly responsible for obtaining and selling the body parts. As they were released to the public a great outcry ensued. Planned Parenthood (PP) CEO Cecile Richards immediately went into damage control mode as she tried to convince the American people that PP did nothing wrong.
Richards and the PP media machine went into overdrive to discredit the videos, saying they were doctored. Daleiden responded by releasing the unedited footage. So Richards went on a media tour explaining that there was no profit from the sale of the body parts. Again, Daleiden released footage to the contrary. At every turn the videos undermined what PP said and showed that the abortion merchant is a criminal organization.
The response?
Daleiden’s apartment was searched, property was seized, and he was charged with several misdemeanors and felonies! That’s right. Daleiden exposed corruption at Planned Parenthood and he was arrested and charged with a crime? Can’t you just feel the justice?
Even more dubious is the fact that the Attorney General and District Attorney that were supposed to be investigating Planned Parenthood for their clearly documented violation of federal law have ties to Planned Parenthood. She even decided to share confidential information with Planned Parenthood during the course of her “investigation.” In the end, her “investigation”concluded that Daleiden broke the law and needed to be arrested.
Confused yet?
The Attorney General, Kamala Harris employs an attorney that is listed as a director for Planned Parenthood. And Planned Parenthood helped fund Harris’re-election campaign. In return Harris has a petition to support Planned Parenthood on her website. Can you say conflict of interest?
Well, the good news is that Daleiden has been aquitted and all charges have been dropped! A recent report states:
“The Harris County District Attorney’s office on Tuesday dismissed all charges against anti-abortion activists who secretly videotaped Planned Parenthood officials in Houston.
“David Robert Daleiden and Sandra Merritt were charged with tampering with a governmental record, for using a fake identification to gain access to the facility. In a surprise move before a hearing on the legitimacy of the indictment, prosecutors dismissed the charges.
“Deleiden and his attorneys claimed victory for the anti-abortion movement, saying they were satisfied with the decision.”
In response to the charges being dropped, Daleiden sent the following statement to pro-life website LifeNews.com:
“The dismissal of the bogus, politically motivated charges … is a resounding vindication of the First Amendment rights of all citizen journalists, and also a clear warning to any of Planned Parenthood’s political cronies who would attack whistleblowers to protect Planned Parenthood from scrutiny. Planned Parenthood tried to collude with public officials to manipulate the legal process to their own benefit, and they failed. A year after the release of the undercover videos, the ongoing nationwide investigation of Planned Parenthood by the House Select Investigative Panel makes clear that Planned Parenthood is the guilty party in the harvesting and trafficking of baby body parts for profit.”
While I am glad that Daleiden has been exonerated of all these bogus charges. The fact that he was charged at all is a miscarriage of justice. I’m not generally in favor of suing people, but I hope he considers civil litigation against Harris, Anderson, and the Attorney General’s office for their actions.
Things ended well. This time. But how long before the money being given to Planned Parenthood by the federal government buys off someone higher up that makes the charges stick? What if next time an innocent person goes to jail? Those are troubling questions the abortion merchant and their allies don’t want to address. But they need addressed.
