These Headlines Begin to Pull Back the Curtain on Our Confused Culture

HeadlinesWhat would you learn by reading headlines from our culture? I read more than 500 headlines everyday and there has not been a day when I was not shocked, saddened, or in some way discouraged by the state of our culture. Common sense has flown out the window. Right is wrong. Clearly wrong is celebrated.

Maybe you’ve been in a bubble, or an echo chamber. Maybe you’ve been too busy to notice. If there is any doubt that our culture is in trouble, perhaps the following few headlines will give an indication of how much trouble we’re in.

Two law professors face racism, sexism, and homophobia charges for urging Americans to act responsibly.

“University of Pennsylvania law professor Amy Wax and University of San Diego law professor Larry Alexander published an op-ed in the Philadelphia Inquirercalling for a revival of the bourgeois values that characterized mid-century American life, including child-rearing within marriage, hard work, self-discipline on and off the job, and respect for authority. The late 1960s took aim at the bourgeois ethic, they say, encouraging an ‘antiauthoritarian, adolescent, wish-fulfillment ideal [of] sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll that was unworthy of, and unworkable for, a mature, prosperous adult society.’”

The authors of this article came under attack, were called sexist and racist for daring to suggest that people – all people – should be hard working, self-disciplined, and respectful (among other things). Somehow the very idea of accountability in our culture has been deemed both sexist and racist.

Parents of a ‘gender expansive’ kindergartner are suing the school

“His parents don’t consider him transgender, however. They describe him as ‘gender expansive,’ and say that he has been able to live peacefully that way until he started public school. Super and Davis informed the school of Leo’s gender expression before the academic year began, but Leo was met with confusion from his classmates about whether he was a boy or a girl, and which bathroom he was supposed to use. This, according to the lawsuit, caused Leo to hate school.”

Five-year-olds tend to ask honest and innocent questions when confronted with ideas that clash with reality. No doubt these questions stressed Leo and his parents out. Then again, what do we expect when we ignore biology and reality in favor of feelings? Previously parents helped in these situations. Today, parents are complicit. Poor kids.

Town Leaders Seek to Make ‘Selectwoman’ the Official Title

“’There’s been some recent interest in Massachusetts to change the name of board of selectmen to something that would be a bit more gender-neutral,’ said Michael Burstein, a town meeting member…’I deliberately and specifically filed a warrant to change the name of Board of Selectmen to Board of Selectwomen,’ he said.”

It would seem that many in our culture believe the only way to be neutral, or inclusive, is to elevate one over another. Rather than seeking to be truly neutral, some prefer to do the thing they are crusading against simply because it would elevate their sex/gender/party (etc). This reveals that it’s not the lack of inclusivity that bothers people, it’s that theirsex/gender/party is not included.

Gender ‘X’ could soon be an option on California state IDs

“The California Senate has already passed SB179, which would introduce a third gender option for state identification. Currently, driver’s licenses and other forms of official identification only contain options for male or female. The bill would allow a third option, which would likely be ‘X’.”

How is a person labeled gender X identified? What defining characteristics exist? If a person identified as gender X committed a crime, what description would be given? And how would it differ from a male or female? Some people are so politically correct that they will violate science and nature to bow down at the altar of the sexual revolution.

Liberal blogger says not to dress as ‘Frozen’s’ Elsa for Halloween because it promotes ‘white beauty’

About the Elsa costume, Feris wrote, ‘There is one thing I don’t like about the character of Elsa. I feel like because Elsa is a White princess, and we see so many white princesses, her character sends the message that you have to be a certain way to be ‘beautiful’ or to be a ‘princess.’”

‘Today’ features 10-year-old ‘drag kid’ who says he’s gay, not trans. Parents say it’s ‘his life.’

According to his interview with NBC’s Kate Snow, Desmond —who goes online by the moniker ‘Desmond is Amazing’ —was subjected to watching’RuPaul’s Drag Race’ with his mother when he was just 3 years old. Seeing those drag queens performing in the televised reality show competition changed his life forever, and he found his true ‘calling’ as a drag kid, emulating what he saw on television. The fifth-grader told Snow that he was inspired to dress like the queens he saw on television because they were ‘amazing’ and ‘beautiful.’”

Since he was 3, this boy has watched grown men dressing like women and dancing around. He believes this is perfectly normal behavior. His parents, the ones entrusted with his care, have allowed him to believe this was perfectly normal behavior. A society that allows children to make complex emotional and intellectual decisions is in trouble. Parents that allow children to make such decisions have failed.

Our polarized culture is not likely to get better. The issues will grow more diverse and complex. We must understand what is truth and be prepared to stand faithfully for that truth.
