What was at one time considered a minor concern, predicted to have virtually no effect on the surging American economy, is now being reevaluated to determine just how big of an impact it will have. The assessment is a daunting task that will be nearly impossible to gauge.
Planned Parenthood Letter: We Need Your Help After the Elections

It’s no secret that conservative lawmakers swept through the country in the recent mid-term elections. It’s also no secret that those lawmakers are strongly pro-life. Though groups like Planned Parenthood try and deny it, the reality is that America is a predominantly pro-life country.
The trend toward life has been steadily increasing every year. On the state level more pro-life laws have been passed in the last three years than in the previous decade combined. The demand for an end to abortion on demand continues to grow and, were it not for the most pro-abortion president in history, we would see federal pro-life laws passed.
At the end of the night when it was obvious that pro-life lawmakers were headed to Washington to be a majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate, it is understandable that abortion advocates became very nervous.
So nervous is Planned Parenthood that they wasted no time in sending a “we really need your support right now” email to their constituents. It’s not a surprise that Planned Parenthood is nervous given the fact that without President Obama they would not receive the $500 million in tax dollars each year they currently enjoy. That’s our money folks…killing babies.

The interview posted below is an excellent reminder of the need for Christians to be characterized by giving. It seems Christians have almost bought into the idea that government should take care of people, rather than the church. This is used to justify tithing and giving less. I commend this interview and the principles taught as a great place to start a discussion on stewardship.
The Scary Truth About Christian Giving

The Bible gives a two-sided portrayal of wealth: It is good, but it can seduce us into sin. The solution, according to New Testament scholar Craig L. Blomberg, is to freely share it. In Christians in an Age of Wealth: A Biblical Theology of Stewardship (Zondervan), Blomberg, who teaches at Denver Seminary, argues that sacrificial giving is an essential part of good stewardship. He spoke with CT editor at large Rob Moll about our spending patterns and whether Christians are required to tithe.
If, as you argue, Christians are no longer bound by the Old Testament principle of tithing, what’s so bad about low rates of giving?
Over the past 40 years, self-identified evangelicals have given between 2 and 3 percent of their incomes to churches and Christian organizations. Stewardship is a crucial part of the Christian life, and according to these figures, it is sadly lacking.
