Friends in Maryland: Did You Know Your Elected Officials Were Doing This?

It is no secret that a super majority of Americans want the abortion business Planned Parenthood defunded of tax dollars. For years Planned Parenthood has operated by taking millions, more than $500 million annually to be exact, from tax payers, given to them by the federal government. But taxpayers, both pro-life and pro-abortion, have made it clear that they don’t want their tax dollars paying for elective abortions.
The previous administration refused to even consider defunding Planned Parenthood, despite bi-partisan support. The Trump administration has said, however, that it is willing to cut funding. That seems like a no-brainer considering the bi-partisan support and overall common sense it makes.
In case you aren’t aware that a majority of people want to see Planned Parenthood defunded, a recent article reports:
“A recent survey found that community health centers not only provide more comprehensive health care than Planned Parenthood, excluding abortions, they also outnumber the abortion group’s facilities by 20 to one.”
Democrats in Maryland have responded by saying they will take the tax dollars of Maryland residents approximately, $2.7 million annually, and send it to Planned Parenthood.
Forgetting the fact that both Democrats and Republicans have made it clear that they don’t want their tax dollars being used to support elective abortion, the rationale of several elected officials in Maryland and their Planned Parenthood colleagues, is tough to understand.
Karen Nelson is the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Maryland, she made the following comment:
“This is not about abortion. This is about basic preventative health care, well-women exams, STI testing and treatment.”
Wait. Either Planned Parenthood in Maryland is unlike nearly every Planned Parenthood clinic across the U.S., or they are lying about the services they provide. Most, and I mean nearly every Planned Parenthood clinic provides little more than abortion services. Sure, they will give you an ultrasound, but only if you are planning to have an abortion. None do mammograms, none offer pre-natal care, and most clinics don’t offer any “well-woman” services. (Click here to see Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards admit they don’t offer mammograms.)
By the way, lest you think Planned Parenthood is the only place for women to turn for services, consider:
“A recent survey found that community health centers not only provide more comprehensive health care than Planned Parenthood, excluding abortions, they also outnumber the abortion group’s facilities by 20 to one.”
So I’m not sure what Karen Nelson is upset about because women don’t generally go to Planned Parenthood for testing or well-women services.
Del. Ariana Kelly said:
“We can show solidarity in this fight against the Trump agenda and the war against women.”
War against women? Perhaps no other organization has waged a greater war against women than Planned Parenthood. They will gladly help with sex-selective abortions in the U.S. and across the globe. If you don’t want to have a baby girl, they will abort that child happily. They claim to care about “women’s rights” but offer no voice to the unborn women being murdered every day. So before they claim that others are waging a war against women, they need to look in the mirror.
Sen. Delores Kelley made the most…angering statement. She said:
“We need to remember our history. We don’t want to go back to a loss of services, and none of us would have to live by other people’s values.”
Sen. Kelley doesn’t want anyone to “have to live by other people’s values.” Great. My values say that abortion is murder and I don’t want any of my hard earned money supporting abortion. So, Sen. Kelley, be sure to withhold my money from the taxes being sent to Planned Parenthood. And don’t forget everyone else in the state that holds to similar values.
Oh wait, that’s not what she means. The values she’s talking about are pro-life values. She has no trouble forcing pro-lifers to live by pro-abortion values. That’s no big deal. She just wants to make sure the only values given consideration are pro-abortion values. Anyone who supports abortion will have his or her values protected and defended. But if you are pro-life, Sen. Kelley doesn’t care at all about your values and will gladly force you to live according to her pro-abortion values.
The reality is that our elected officials in Annapolis are out of touch with the values of a majority of people. They are not listening to what we want regarding our tax dollars. Furthermore, they are forcing many people to violate their conscience and religious convictions by supporting abortion. None of this is acceptable.
How will Gov. Hogan respond? How will you respond?
