VIDEO: Ben Shapiro Destroys Abortion Advocates Argument During UC Berkeley Visit
Posted on October 3, 2017 in Life by Nathan Cherry
Conservative firebrand Ben Shapiro exposes the logical deficiency of the pro-abortion position.
The video below is not for the logically challenged, reason-void, or any other person lacking the ability to understand coherent arguments. What the video below is for, is to show the absurdity of the pro-abortion position.
When Ben Shapiro came to the UC Berkeley campus it was to much media attention and fanfare. UC Berkeley is not known as a campus that champions free speech and diversity of ideas. In recent years it has become ground zero in many respects for liberal indoctrination, safe spaces, intolerance, and snowflake culture. In short, it’s not the kind of place Ben Shapiro will find a warm welcome.
Nonetheless Shapiro went to speak and answer questions from students.
One exchange in particular has captured the attention of media that are calling it an “epic takedown” of the pro-abortion position.
The student asked why Shapiro thought a “First-trimester fetus has human value?” Continue reading…
Hurricanes Remind Me of Two Great Truths About God
Posted on September 27, 2017 in Theology by Nathan Cherry
Hurricanes Harvey and Irma brought unprecedented devastation to the United States. Just weeks after hurricane Harvey brought more than 40 inches of rain to Houston, flooding the city and displacing hundreds of thousands of texans. Hurricane Irma, the strongest storm ever measured in the Atlantic Ocean carved out a path of destruction in Florida hard to imagine.
In the wake of these two great storms is death, destruction, floods, and lives that will never be the same. But if you were watching closely, and paying attention, you saw two immutable facts about God on display during these storms.
As I scrolled social media and my news feed perusing articles from across the country reporting on the devastating effects of these hurricanes, one thing continued to catch my eye. People, sharing the details of their encounter with nature’s fury before, during and after their tangle with the hurricanes included God in their thoughts. Continue reading…
How Can Christians Think Biblically About Price Gouging?
Posted on September 26, 2017 in Public Policy, Theology by Nathan Cherry
Historically price gouging has been considered a bad thing. But is it really?
If you’re like me you’ve never given much thought to the concept of price gouging. You simply assumed it was bad and harbored appropriate disdain for those taking advantage of a bad situation. As Christians we should be able to think biblically about issues in our culture like price gouging so we can respond appropriately. I want to take a few moments to think through this idea and see if we can apply biblical principles in a way that makes sense.
Let’s understand first what price gouging is.
Price gouging is the deliberate raising of prices on essential goods in the aftermath of a disaster (such as a hurricane). Essentially, it is a result of supply and demand interacting with each other at a time when conditions make demand abnormally high while making supply more difficult (and costly) than normal. The result is $10 per gallon gasoline, $30 for a pack of water that normally costs $4, and $200 for a hotel room that normally costs $100.
We are initially incensed at the idea of charging a higher price during an emergency. Any ethical human being naturally thinks that during an emergency we should be willing to help people in need by charging less, or giving goods away for free. But how do we think biblically about the pricing of goods during an emergency?
First we need to admit that there is an ethical component to economics. Some would have us believe that economics is nothing more than numbers, it’s math. But for Christians, we need to look past the numbers to the ethics (and even theology) behind the numbers. For instance, economic principles drive political philosophies and viewpoints. No one would assert that political philosophies are not ethical, or moral. So we can’t assume the forces behind political philosophies and principles are not equally ethical and moral. The Nashville Statement Reaffirms Biblical Doctrine. Why Are Christians Upset?
Posted on September 20, 2017 in Marriage, Sexuality, Theology by Nathan Cherry
Evangelical leaders from around the country recently released a theological statement reaffirming historic, orthodox Christian teaching. And the world lost its mind.
When the Nashville Statement was released late in August, the backlash from Christians and non-Christians alike was immediate and strong. There’s no need to post or link to those comments because a simple Google search will take you to all you want to see. Suffice it to say, many were displeased with the statement.
What is mind-boggling to me is the number of self-professing Christians that are unhappy with the statement. I can understand lost people hating it, they hate the truth of God’s Word. Their mind and heart are ravaged by sin and under the influence of their inherent sin nature. As enemies of God (we are all born this way), they reject His authority and the clear principles for life given in Scripture. After all, darkness hates light. Darkness craves darkness to continue evil deeds that darkness loves. So when lost people react with vitriol to a biblical statement of orthodox Christian doctrine, it’s no surprise.
But I can’t figure out why Christians are so upset. Continue reading…
This Might Be the Most Stunning Video of an Unborn Baby I’ve Ever Seen!
Posted on September 19, 2017 in Life by Nathan Cherry
I have watched numerous videos depicting the process of pregnancy. I’ve watched animated videos of baby’s forming over the course of 9 months in the womb that have been really well done. But, I must say, that the video posted below might be the most visually stunning and detailed depiction of pregnancy that I have ever seen.
In the span of just 4 minutes we get to watch the process from conception to birth. The combination of attention grabbing music and breathtaking imagery makes this video enjoyable to watch; and it goes by very quickly.
But, the science behind this video is amazing to understand. When we think of a living human being being formed inside another human being we should pause to enjoy the awe of that reality. We breathe air. These tiny people breathe through the umbilical cord. We eat by putting food in our mouth and chewing and swallowing. The unborn are nourished by their mother through the umbilical cord.
Beyond these we get to see the amazing formation of another human being in incredible detail. We are reminded that our biological gender is fixed before we are born. And that our eye and hair color is determined before we take our first breathe outside the womb. WE come to understand that we are not merely a “blob of cells,” as we are often told by the abortion industry. We are a human being with a beating heart, working eyes and ears, and a brain that thinks and feels.
Dave Andrusko, the editor of National Right to Life News, reminded us of just how busy and active the unborn in his article at Lifenews.com:
“You see examples of the behavior expectant parents can now see on 4-D ultrasounds: the smiles, the yawning, the swallowing of amniotic fluid, the nibbling on the toes, the movement to gain maneuvering room as the child grows larger. I’m sure I’ve probably seen this before, but this video does a very nice job of conveying the last part of the baby’s journey: moving down through the birth canal.”
Take a minute, or 4 minutes, and watch this stunning video. Then share it with others, post it to social media, and remind people that even the smallest, most vulnerable among us is a beautiful human being deserving life.

Joel Osteen, Social Media, and Hurricane Harvey – A Lesson in Truth
Posted on September 14, 2017 in Theology by Nathan Cherry
Regardless of what Joel Osteen says, he is going to make headlines.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, a natural disaster that left hundreds of thousands without homes and needing refuge, efforts were quickly underway to offer help and support to those affected. People opened their homes to victims. Local businesses provided food and drinks to rescue workers. And people and organizations from all over the country made their way to Texas to offer help and supplies.
This is what makes America amazing; strangers putting themselves in harms way to help strangers.
Even celebrities got involved in the effort to help flood victims. JJ Watt, the defensive superstar of the Houston Texans football team, went online to rally people to come together and donate to relief efforts. It really is amazing to watch Americans come together after a disaster and work tirelessly to offer help and hope to the victims. Messages of love and support pour in from across the country to make sure people know they are not alone.
Not all messages are received with appreciation though. Some messages are tossed around social media with biting remarks and snarky jabs intended to hurt the messenger. Continue reading…
Pro Life Governor Defunds Abortion Industry; Directs Funds to Help Women
Posted on September 12, 2017 in Life by Nathan Cherry
The abortion industry has been put on notice in the state of South Carolina. The message is simple: we don’t want your business.
Gov. Henry McMaster issued an executive order that prohibits any state or local tax money from being used to fund abortions. The executive order explicitly forbids the use of tax dollars being used to subsidize abortion or, and perhaps more importantly, being given to any agency or facility or doctor that is affiliated with an abortion business.
This is an important distinction as many abortion providers will often be allowed to receive tax dollars and then use those funds to pay for administrative costs, lease agreements, or other “non-abortion related” costs. This is how abortion providers get around funding prohibitions on abortion. This is also how Planned Parenthood can accept hundreds of millions of tax dollars and claim that they are not used for abortion. But this order is different in that it makes clear that any facility or doctor that is even affiliated with an abortion business is now ineligible to receive those tax dollars.
A recent article states: Continue reading…
Why Are Liberals Allowed to be Racist?
Posted on September 6, 2017 in Public Policy, Theology by Nathan Cherry
Our culture seems to be outraged at the “pervasive racism” all around us. But is it real outrage, or selective outrage designed to target certain people and groups while leaving other offenders alone?
Racism has no place in a civil society. In a diverse culture such as America, it should be all the more damnable. We should collectively expose and shun any group that seeks to adhere to racist ideology. As they exercise their freedom of speech and assembly their hideous worldview should be exposed and readily condemned.
The outrage experienced over the last few weeks due to events in Charlottesville shows two things: racism is still alive and well in the United States and, outrage over racism is often biased.
While protestors demanded the removal of Confederate statues across the country, many of the same people that find tremendous offensive in images of historical figures don’t seem to care much about the systemic racism from their own ranks. One glaring example of this is the almost unbelievable comment made by liberal news host Bill Maher.
During an interview with Sen. Ben Sasse (NE), Maher casually dropped the n-word. A recent article carries the exchange:
“Maher said during the interview, ‘ I’ ve got to get to Nebraska more.’
“Sasse replied, ‘ You’ re welcome. We’ d love to have you work in the fields with us.’
“And then Maher hit Sasse with the unthinkable: ‘ Work in the fields? Senator, I’ m a house n****r.’”
Now, one has to wonder how Maher was able to casually throw out that word without a second thought. In what world did he think this was appropriate, even as a joke? But the greater issue is why Maher still has a job. Let’s be honest enough to say that if this had been Sean Hannity, Tucker Carleson, or literally any other well-known conservative host, he would be out of a job. The liberal media would have beaten the story to pulp and intimidated every single sponsor until removal (firing) would be the only option.
Did that happen with Maher? As a matter of fact, other than a typical apology from Maher and HBO, nothing happened. Liberals yawned. Social justice warriors don’t seem to care. And those “deeply offended” by statues from our nation’s history appear unconcerned with the overt racist comments of a very public figure.
Then again, racists have plagued the Democratic Party for many years. Anyone from West Virginia knows the most famous politician from the state was Robert Byrd. Byrd remained in Congress for decades, elected by Democrats from West Virginia year after year. And yet, Byrd was a former KKK member and lifelong racist. Why didn’t anyone from the Democratic leadership denounce Byrd and seek to replace him in Congress?
And let’s not forget about Margaret Sanger, the racist eugenicist founder of Planned Parenthood. Sanger, a liberal Democrat, was fond of saying that Planned Parenthood was created to rid the world of “inferior” races, such as African Americans. And yet, to this day Planned Parenthood gives out awards in her name.
A bust of Sanger stands in the Smithsonian. A group of African Americans recently wrote a letter reminding the Smithsonian of the racist legacy of Sanger:
“Perhaps the Gallery is unaware that Ms. Sanger supported black eugenics, a racist attitude toward black and other minority babies, an elitist attitude toward those she regarded as ‘ the feeble minded;’ speaking at a rally of Ku Klux Klan women; and communications with Hitler sympathizers…Also the notorious ‘ Negro Project,’ which sought to limit, if not eliminate black births, was her brainchild. Despite these well- documented facts of history, her bust sits proudly in your gallery as a hero of justice.”
The group has a legitimate right to be outraged that a bust of a racist sits in an exhibit with busts of people like Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks. Especially considering the fact that the exhibit is to commend the achievements of those that sought racial equality. A description of the exhibit says “great achievements…striking down long-standing segregationist practices and discrimination in American society.”
Given this reality it’s understandable that the group has asked the Smithsonian to remove the image. And yet, Democrats seem unconcerned about Sanger’s racist legacy. They don’t appear to be interested in removing her name from their party or disavowing the organization she began.
Liberals love pointing out any hint of racism among conservatives. They want to tie the Alt-Right to any conservative person or group they can as a “demonstration” that conservatives as a whole are racist. Of course this is a tremendous lie. Conservatism believes in human dignity and respect for all people, regardless of the color of their skin (or whether they are born or unborn).
While liberals point their fingers and demand satisfaction for their social justice campaign to rid our country of racist reminders, the attitude of racism is alive and well within their own party.
Pro-Life Medical Professionals Should “Promote” Abortion
Posted on September 5, 2017 in Life by Nathan Cherry

A new law in Illinois seeks to force pro-life doctors and even pregnancy centers to provide information on abortion and where to obtain an abortion. Pro-life advocates are fighting the law, saying it violates their religious freedom and conscious protections. I agree. But I also see this as an opportunity for pro-life advocates to spread the message of life.
A recent article explains the situation in Illinois:
“Last year, the state of Illinois passed a law requiring all doctors, pharmacists and pregnancy centers to assist pregnant women in getting abortions, even if they are morally or religiously opposed. SB 1564 amends the state’s Health Care Right of Conscience Act and compels pro-life doctors and clinics to provide information about abortion and to refer patients to health care providers who will perform abortions.”
One doctor, an obstetrician, is fighting the new law saying it violates his religious convictions and conscience rights. He recently told Tucker Carleson:
that I could refer my patients off, one to be executed and the other to be mortally wounded for the rest of her life with a sense of regret.”
He’s right. He does have two patients, and his job is to serve both of those patients. He’s right to oppose the law and defend his right to live and do business according to his religious conviction. But, what if sharing information about abortion and informing his patients of what abortion is could actually further strengthen the pro-life position in our culture?
Father Frank Pavone has said for years “America will not reject abortion until America sees abortion.”
He is referring to the graphic images of aborted children that are so often covered up by abortion advocates. Groups like Planned Parenthood work very hard to make sure people to don’t see what abortion looks like, or the aftermath of the abortion procedure. As people see what an aborted child looks like and the harm caused to women by the abortion procedure, they turn to wards life.
What if doctors could play a critical role in helping people to understand the need to defend life by showing
people abortion? If pro-abortion advocates want doctors to “provide information” to their patients about abortion, then I say show them what abortion looks like. Show videos of the D&C procedure so women can see for themselves what an abortion looks like, and what it does to the unborn child.
Doctors could also share abortion stats, including how many women are harmed in abortion each year as opposed
to women that give birth with no medical complications. This could be a powerful counter to the abortion industry’s false claim that abortion is safer than pregnancy and delivery.
Doctors could also share with women ho abortion is used to cover up sex trafficking, rape, and sexual abuse. Planned Parenthood doesn’t want people to know that they are happy to abort any child, even if it means covering up a crime such as rape and sex trafficking. But members of the medical profession that support life could be a powerful voice for those victims.
The medical community could also share with women how Planned Parenthood advocates for abortion on minors without parental consent. This would be excellent “information” for a pro-life doctor to share with women so they can be aware of the danger Planned Parenthood poses for their daughters. I suggest that all pro-life doctors, pregnancy centers, and medical professionals in Illinois to comply with this law. And medical professionals in other states should follow suit.
If the abortion industry wants people to be“ informed” about abortion, then I say we share all the information we can with people. And, as people learn the ugly, evil truth about abortion, I believe we will see the pro-life position further strengthened in our country and, as Fr. Pavone said, America will reject abortion. If more pro-life doctors and medical professionals begin sharing “information” on abortion with their patients, it won’t be long before groups like Planned Parenthood seek to hide abortion from the public eye. They will seek to keep it hushed, and demand that no doctor ever tell anyone about abortion. Because the truth is, Planned Parenthood and many abortion providers are predatory.
They prey upon people that don’t have a lot of information. They seek to perform abortions quickly; with little to no patient interaction because they know that if they actually explain abortion to women that far more women will reject abortion. This is also why statistically; women that have an abortion are less likely to have a second abortion. I think abortion advocates and pro-abortion lawmakers in Illinois made a big mistake. They may have opened the door to the
downfall of abortion in Illinois (and perhaps America) with this legislation. If we utilize the opportunity we can make a lasting impact for life. They just don’t know it yet.
One Way to Eliminate Racism: Disciple Your Kids
Posted on August 31, 2017 in Family, Theology by Nathan Cherry
I recently read with intrigue the letter a father posted in which he disowned his son for taking part in the racist rally in Charlottesville that devolved into violence. This sorrowful father, along with their family, lamented over their son’s “vile, hateful and racist rhetoric and actions.”
This father, which seemed sincere, and sincerely heartbroken over his sons attitude and actions wants to make is clear that their family does not believe the same way. To emphasize this point the father wrote that his son has been disowned, uninvited to any family gatherings until he changes his ways. And the father specifically wanted everyone to know:
“We do not know specifically where he learned these beliefs. He did not learn them at home.”
This begs the question: where did he learn these beliefs?
As parents we are bestowed with the responsibility of training our children. No one else bears this responsibility. Though others, such as schoolteachers, church leaders, and coaches, take an active part in imparting information to our kids, only parents have the responsibility to teach and train their kids. Considering the many worldviews and philosophies that are competing for the hearts and minds of our kids, it is imperative that parents take serious their duty to be the primary educators of their children.
