If You Enjoyed the Grammy’s – Don’t Read This

Do we really need to comment on everything that happens? Each time there is an event in society that raises even a little concern there is an expectation the following day that the Internet will blow up with commentary from every corner. There is furthermore, an expectation by people that such commentary will exist in order to give them “perspective.”

But do I really need to comment on the Grammy’s?

Christian singer Natalie Grant didn’t feel the need to comment. She simply got up and walked out of the show after witnessing the “demonic” performance. She later tweeted that she had “never been more honored to sing about Jesus and for Jesus.”

Former Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron did comment that there is “a lot of evil in the world” after seeing what he described as “demonic” performances.

For what it’s worth it seems, the folks directing the Grammy’s decided to cater to as small a crowd as possible. So they decided to appease Satanists, homosexuals, and…whatever crowd enjoyed Beyonce’s “performance.” And while I wish I could just forget it all and move on there is an urge to comment (Though, admittedly I didn’t watch the show and caught the “highlights” the next day.). Picture: Atheists Get Billboard Outside Super Bowl Stadium

Posted on February 1, 2014 in Religious Freedom by

The American Atheists group known for bashing faith has been given add space outside Metlife Stadium where the Super Bowl will be played tomorrow. According to the group this is the first atheist sponsored billboard targeting football fans. The groups president, David Silverman made the following comment:

“Prayer is superstition, plain and simple. It trivializes the dedication of the players and takes away from their achievements…A third of football fans pray in hopes of helping their team. These are adults we’re talking about — people with children, people with careers, people who vote.” [I]t is 2014 and “time to stop believing that prayer works.”

I can’t help but wonder if a group promoting faith, prayer, salvation, or any other faith-based message would have been given the same add space. And if they were given the space, would they or the advertiser be sued by American Atheists or the Freedom from Religion Foundation? Will someone try to sue the atheists for promoting their “religion”? Because let’s face it, atheism is indeed a religion. The double standard and irony here is palpable.

Here’s the billboard that will be featured.

Video: Listen to the Beat – Abortion in America

Posted on February 1, 2014 in Life by

The video below is one of the most unique I’ve seen describing abortion in America. As Josiah, the speaker, shares hist story and comments on the tragedy of abortion in America drums play in the background. Each one of those drum beats represents an abortion that will take place today somewhere in America.

Perhaps the most sobering line from the video is at the end when Josiah reminds us that “if you think this isn’t enough lives that are lost, watch it again tomorrow, because it will happen again.”

Watch the video and share it with someone else. The message of life is winning and we will see the end of abortion in my generation if we continue to stand and speak. If the video doesn’t appear automatically, please refresh your browser.

Five Myths of Used to Justify Abortion Debunked

Posted on January 31, 2014 in Life by

5 Myths PanelAt the recent Students for Life of America national conference in Maryland, pro-life advocates addressed 5 myths the abortion industry uses to justify the continued murder of millions of innocent children. Each myth, along with a response is posted below so you can learn how to engage those who might use these thoughts to justify abortion. The reality is that there is no justification for killing an innocent unborn child. By learning these myths and their responses we can engage those that seek to justify abortion with the truth.

H/T to ChristianPost.com for posting this.

1. Abortion is needed because of overpopulation

“A lot of people think they are doing the socially responsible thing by not having children,” but they are actually making society poorer as a result, argued Steven Mosher, president of the Population Research Institute (PRI).

Contrary to what most professors tell their students, Mosher declared that “the socially responsible thing is to have children — providing the future consumers, the future producers, and the future taxpayers.” The PRI president argued that if American families had an average of three children, “Social Security would be solvent forever,” and if the 56 million babies aborted since Roe vs. Wade were working in our society, the deficit would be half or less than half what it is now. He also pointed to social science showing that children raised in large families have lower rates of crime, drug use, and premarital sex.

“The good book says that babies are a blessing for multiple reasons — for any Christian to believe the opposite is incomprehensible,” Mosher added. Nevertheless, Mosher said population control activists helped legalize abortion, and their ideas still dominate college campuses. He mentioned a population foundation set up by John D. Rockefeller III which suggested legalized abortion and a two-child policy for the United States. Continue reading…

Kids Get Into Creation Museum for FREE in 2014

Posted on January 30, 2014 in Home School by

If you’ve ever thought about taking a trip to the Creation Museum (near Cincinnati, OH), 2014 is the year you want to make that trip a reality.

Creation MuseumAnswers in Genesis has announced that admission for all kids 12 and under that are accompanied by an adult will be free for all of 2014!

AiG recently wrote:

“[A]s part of our 2014 theme “Standing Our Ground, Rescuing Our Kids” (based on Galatians 1:4), we have decided to do something very special so we can help teach children the truths of the Bible: We will be allowing all children 12 years and under to come free to our Creation Museum near Cincinnati for all of 2014. (They must be accompanied by a paying adult; all children need to be accompanied by an adult anyway.) AiG wants to help parents (and other adults) to bring as many children as possible to our Creation Museum to help overcome the censorship of the truth of God’s Word.

An offer like this is extremely generous for the Creation Museum. I would encourage families to consider seriously making a trip to the museum to take advantage of this incredible offer. It would also be wise for home school groups and church youth groups to consider planning a trip as well.

For more information on this incredible offer read the announcement from AiG.

Sen. Unger Wants to Protect People from Polluted Water – What About Unborn Babies?

Posted on January 30, 2014 in Life by

Sen John Unger

Sen. John Unger

If you’ve spent any time in the Charleston, WV area in January you know that water has been a very hot topic despite freezing temperatures. On January 9th a chemical leak at Freedom Industries leaked approximately 10,000 gallons of a toxic chemical called MCHM and PPH into the Elk River which then got into the water supply at West Virginia American Water. From there the chemical contaminated the water supply for roughly 300,000 residents in nine counties in and around the Charleston area.

Since the water crisis that saw hundreds of thousands without water for at least a week, closed schools, shut down businesses, and brought more than 10 million bottles of water to be distributed to residents, much talk abounds on how to make sure it never happens again. That is understandable, water is a necessity for life and losing water for even a week is a serious issue.

Sen. John Unger (D-Berkeley), also the majority leader in the West Virginia State Senate, has sponsored a bill that he believes will provide protection from an occurrence like this happening again.

Senate bill 373 concerns water resource protection and the regulation of above-ground storage tanks in an effort to keep another leak from happening. The bill appears to be poised for passage with a vote happening as early as this week. That will no doubt be good news for many people who wonder why there does not appear to have been any oversight for the storage of a dangerous chemical.

My purpose for writing is not really related to water regulations. As someone affected by the water crisis that enjoyed a bath in 13 gallons of boiled water I can attest that it was not a cherished experience. But you know what, I’m alive and healthy. That’s more than I can say for the unborn babies killed by abortion in Charleston every single day just a few short miles from the West Virginia capitol where Sen. Unger and other lawmakers are arguing over water. Continue reading…

Most Americans Support Abortion Restrictions

Posted on January 29, 2014 in Life, Public Policy by

You won’t hear this in the news tonight. But a new poll shows that most Americans support abortion restrictions and do not support abortion on demand up to the moment of birth. Currently in my home state of West Virginia the abortion industry is unregulated and abortion is legal up to the moment of birth. Our lawmakers seem indifferent to this fact and turn a blind eye. But this poll bears the truth of what most West Virginians and Americans in general believe about abortion.

LifeNews.com: “The Marist University poll, which was sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, finds 62% of all Americans support “changing laws to allow for some restrictions on abortion,” while 84 percent of Americans do not support abortion on demand up until the birth of the child.

“The poll also found 28 percent believe that abortion should be legal only in the first three months of a pregnancy, while 33 percent think that abortion should only be legal in cases of rape, incest, and danger to the mother’s life. In other words two-thirds of Americans oppose all or virtually all abortions.

“Over seven in ten Americans back banning abortions after twenty weeks, unless the mother’s life is in danger, the poll found — as Congress considers a ban on abortions after 20 weeks.

“According to the survey, support for restrictions on abortion includes 79 percent supporting a 24-hour waiting period, 58 percent supporting a woman receiving an ultrasound before her abortion and 80 percent supporting parental notification for underage patients. That extends even to “pro-choice”Americans — as 64% of those who say they are strongly pro-choice on abortion agreed to a 24-hour waiting period on abortion 62 percent support parental notification and 68 percent believe doctors who perform abortions should be required to have hospital admitting privileges.”

URGENT: House Passes “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act”

Posted on January 29, 2014 in Life by

urgentI wrote on Monday that the House of Representatives would be voting on the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act” this week. They held that vote on Tuesday and the bill passed with an overwhelming majority. Considering that polls have consistently shown a super-majority of Americans don’t want their tax dollars used to fund the abortion industry, this bill only makes sense. Not to mention the federal government should not be in the business of killing unborn children.

A CNN survey conducted last April shows that Americans by a 61% to 35% margin do not want federal money used for abortion.

An article by the Family Research Council explains that “the ‘No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and the Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act’ sponsored by Reps. Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Dan Lipinski (D-IL). Reps. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) controlled debate today on the House floor and defended the will of an overwhelming majority of Americans who are opposed to paying for other people’s abortions and want the government to be neutral when it comes to the funding of abortion.”

This bi-partisan effort to defend life resulted in a bi-partisan vote that saw both Republicans and Democrats support the bill. An article at LIfeNews.com explains:

“The House voted 227-188 for the bill with 221 Republicans and 6 Democrats voting to ban taxpayer funding of abortions under HR7 while 187 Democrats and one Republican voted against it. [ROLL CALL at end of story.]”

I am proud to say that all three of West Virginia’s representatives voted to support the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.” I want to say thank-you to Representatives Shelley Moore-Capito, David McKinley, and Nick Rahall for their support and defense of life. And I urge them to continue supporting life and representing the overwhelming majority of Mountaineers that believe life is sacred and should be defended. Continue reading…

What If I Decided to Ignore the Law Like President Obama?

Posted on January 29, 2014 in Marriage, Public Policy by

ConstitutionA disturbing trend is taking place across the nation regarding marriage laws. We are seeing more frequently a refusal on the part of elected officials to defend marriage laws, even those put in place as a result of a vote of the people. Working from where we are right now, backwards, the troubling trend has a specific starting point.

Just last week the newly elected attorney general of Virginia said he would not uphold his state’s ban on same-sex “marriage.” Mark Herring said he “cannot and will not” defend a law that he believes is unconstitutional. Virginia’s ban on same-sex “marriage” is set to be challenged in court very soon by tow homosexual couples. So this decision by Herring is timely and will require legal scrambling on the part of the state.

Kathleen Kane, attorney general for the state of Pennsylvania, announced in July of 2013 that she would not defend the state’s ban on same-sex “marriage” when it was challenged in court as well. Kane said she cannot uphold any laws that she feels violate the Pennsylvania or U.S. Constitutions. Kane was named in a lawsuit by homosexual couples suing the state over the ban before she announced her decision not to take the case and uphold the law.

The trend of elected officials refusing to uphold the duties of their office and defend the laws of their state is troubling. If these attorney generals believe they are justified in refusing to uphold one law, what stops them from refusing to uphold others? What if an attorney general simply “cannot and will not” uphold the right to bear arms (2nd amendment) in his or her state? What if another attorney general decides she “cannot and will not” uphold a ban on partial birth abortion? Continue reading…

Video: Brit Hume Says Abortion “Snuffs Out” a Human Life

Posted on January 28, 2014 in Life by

This short video by Fox News political analyst Brit Hume on the anniversary of Roe V. Wade reminds us all why we continue to protest the infamous Supreme Court Decision. Hume says abortion “snuffs out” a beating heart and kills a living human being.

Take a moment to watch this short but powerful video and share it with others. The battle to defend the unborn is not growing tired, it is growing stronger as each generation realizes that life is sacred and should be defended. Abortion advocates’ days are numbered as we draw closer to the day when abortion is ended and every unborn child is protected.
