These are important words for Christians. Too often Christians sound like the culture around us when talking about our identity. As if we have any identity outside of Christ. We are not “American Christians,” or “African-American Christians.” Neither are we alcoholics, drug addicts, or homosexuals. We are simply Christians. To label ourselves with anything more than Christian is to hold up an idol before Christ and declare it our primary identity.

I was the rebel, running from God. I spit in God’s face and ran from His grace. I fought for my rights not knowing hell was waiting. And somewhere, on my road to self-discovery and liberation, it wasn’t a fair-skinned moral man that appeared and begged me to accept Him. It was a beaten, bloody, crucified Christ asking God to forgive me because I didn’t know what I was doing.
Does Man Have Free Will to Choose Christ? Not So Fast!

The view concerning man’s will is one of debate among Arminians and Reformed theologians. Arminians believe that man has the ability, the free will, to choose Christ. Reformed theologians believe that due to the bondage of the will to sin, man does not have the ability to choose Christ without the regenerating work and effectual calling of the Holy Spirit. This distinction has been the source of much debate between these two theological groups.
Before moving forward, it is important to understand that it is a universally agreed upon fact that man has a will and can make choices based upon that will. However, what is not true is that man has the ability to freely choose Christ based solely upon his own free will. Let me explain the difference.

Last week I posted a few resources for Christian parents to help in raising their kids in the “fear and admonition of the Lord.” I found those resources very helpful for me, personally, as I seek to raise my kids in the Gospel. So, when I came across more resources to help with this holy task, I wanted to share them as well.
Take a look at some of the articles below to learn more about cultivating the Gospel in your kids, the importance of your presence, and how to avoid “provoking your children to wrath.” There’s even a couple of videos at the end of the list that I think are very helpful (the first video is a beautiful animated YouTube song depicting the Gospel.) Have You Ever Considered the Miracle Before Easter? Think About This…

Easter has all sort of controversies.
Some think the name “Easter” has pagan origins and refuse to use.
Some think having anything to do with bunnies and eggs filled with candy is a perversion of a sacred day.
Some don’t think the resurrection occurred in the Spring and want to change the date.
For me and my family those things are mostly peripheral issues that take a back seat to the celebration of the resurrection. But before we get to the celebration we have to consider all of the divine miracles that led to the glorious culmination of God’s redemptive plan.
So I want to ask, have you ever stopped to think about the incredible miracles that took place prior to the resurrection?
Let’s start with the fact that Jesus was born of a virgin. Not the part where a virgin gives birth. Don’t get me wrong, that’s amazing all by itself. I’m talking about the part where the Creator of all that exists comes to earth wrapped in the flesh and bones of a tiny baby.
VIDEO: The Piano Guys Remind Us Why “O Come O Come Emmanuel” is Still an Awesome Song

One of my all-time favorite Christmas songs is “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.” From the melody and harmonies to the theologically rich lyrics, this song is a beautiful reminder that we are still awaiting our promise for Messiah’s return. Consider the first verse and refrain of the song:
O come, O come, Emmanuel,
And ransom captive Israel,
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear.
Rejoice! Rejoice!
Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.
The song continues to teach theological truth and inspire worship from there. If you too love inspiring music and incredible musical ability, you will love this rendition of the famed Christmas carol. The Piano Guys have a gift for making some amazing instrumental music. This is no exception. I hope you enjoy this video as much as I did.

VIDEO: Actor Jim Caviezel Delivers Powerful Message

I am a huge Jim Caviezel fan. My first exposure to him was his role as Jesus in Mel Gibson’s epic movie “The Passion of the Christ.” Since that movie took the world by storm I have been a fan of Caviezel for his willingness to stand boldly for his faith in Hollywood.
Even though Caviezel knew that it could be a death sentence for his career as an actor, he felt called to make the movie and was obedient to that call. Since that time Caviezel has been an outspoken voice for faith in a town not know for any faith at all.
In this video Jim Caviezel shares on everything from how he got the role as Jesus in The Passion to his latest project recording an audio Bible. And while I wish someone else was doing the interview – this particular guy is a little too light-hearted for the message being shared, the message shared by Jim Caviezal in this video is a much needed one.

Don’t You Want to be in Good Hands?

Isn’t it comforting when you know you’re in good hands? There’s a calming peace to any circumstances when you realize the person in charge is more than capable of taking care of things. Immediately we breathe a sigh of relief and feel a massive weight lifted from our shoulders. We’re in good hands.
Have you ever considered what it means to be “in good hands” when it comes to Christ? As a born again believer, a Christ follower, the idea of every detail of our lives being in the hands of Christ means we are in the “best hands” at all times. There’s never any need to worry or be concerned because the “best hands” have everything under control. And oh what hands they are.
Those are the hands that threw stars and planets into orbit and caused the universe to spin (Psa. 147:4). Those are the hands that took common, ordinary dirt and sculpted the human body in all its wonder and beauty (Gen. 1-2). These are the hands that carved out the Ten Commandments in stone (ex. 24:12) and closed the door of the ark (Gen. 7:15-16). These are the hands that held the water of the Red Sea so Israel could walk on dry land (ex. 14:21).
