Pro-Abortion Student Decides to Challenge Ben Shapiro on Life-Learns Quickly That May Have Been a Bad Idea

Posted on April 5, 2016 in Life by

Every once in a while an exchange between a pro-life and pro-abortion advocate catches my attention. Sometimes these are thought-provoking exchanges resulting from civil discourse by educated people that are seeking to exchange ideas. And sometimes…not so much.

The video below shows an exchange between Ben Shapiro, a conservative commentator, author, and lawyer, and a Salisbury University student. Shapiro was speaking at the Maryland University when he decided to open the floor for questions. A pro-abortion supporter decided to take the opportunity to challenge Shapiro’s views on life and the legality of abortion. That led to the following exchange which was captured on video.

After watching this exchange I have one conclusion: many pro-abortion advocates have nothing to offer but rhetoric and media talking points.

Watch the video for yourself (posted below) and see if you can find any logic, reason, or anything remotely valuable in the pro-abortion advocates arguments. Here is a brief section of the discussion between Shapiro and the student:

Amazing Picture! Baby Born at 24 Weeks Changing the Late-Term Abortion Debate

Posted on September 30, 2014 in Life, Uncategorized by

Sadly, most people don’t know the abortion laws in their state. Deliberate attempts to keep people in the dark are meant to eemilycaines2ncourage apathy – which in turn continues to allow abortion groups to kill unborn kids.

In my home state of West Virginia I am amazed at the number of people that are unaware of the non-existent abortion laws. In the Mountaineer state a baby can be killed up to the moment of birth, for any reason. There is no law limiting abortion or even regulating the abortion industry. Abortion is a free for all in West Virginia.

Within this ongoing conversation is the aspect of “late-term abortion” and what the legal limit should be; whether 24 weeks (the current standard) or earlier. As science continually shows us the humanity of the unborn at 8 weeks, 16 weeks and 20 weeks; pro-life advocates have begun an aggressive campaign to see the 24 week abortion limit moved to no later than 20 weeks.

Debate: Can You Be a Gay Christian?

Posted on July 16, 2014 in Sexuality, Theology by

Now, on the surface is the short, simple answer from both sides of the debate. Homosexual activists would quickly say “of course it’s possible” and cite several examples, perhaps Matthew Vines, Jennifer Knapp or friends and family they know. Christians by a large majority would quickly say “no, this is not possible” and cite scripture calling homosexual behavior a sin.

At issue then is whether or not homosexual behavior is a sin. Because if homosexual behavior is not a sin then it is entirely possible to be a proud, practicing homosexual and at the same time be a Christian. If homosexual behavior is a sin then to live in sin and be proud of it while claiming to be a Christian is contrary to biblical teaching on several levels.

EPIC: Atheist Set to Debate William Lane Craig on Friday

Posted on February 20, 2014 in Theology by

If you were somehow disappointed by the Ken Ham v. Bill Nye debate, you absolutely must watch an upcoming debate between prominent atheist Sean Carroll and brilliant philosopher and theologian William Lane Craig. A recent article shares some details of the debate scheduled for this Friday at 7 PM:

“The debate, titled ‘God and Cosmology: The Existence of God in Light of Modern Cosmology,’ will be a two-day symposium, featuring numerous speakers. While the first day of the event will be led by Carroll and Craig, a separate debate and discussion on the second day of the conference will feature four additional presenters who will also address complex philosophical and theological issues, according to a press release. Philosophers Tim Maudlin and Alex Rosenberg will argue in favor of Carroll’s side of the debate and Craig’s case will be touted by philosopher Robin Collins and physicist James Sinclair.”

Anyone who knows anything about William Lane Craig knows that he is revered as one of, if not the most brilliant debater regarding apologetics alive today. (With a very respectful hat tip to Ravi Zacharias.) It has been reported more than once that Craig has never lost a debate and some even refuse to debate him – whether out of fear, respect, or both, is anyone’s guess.

This promises to be an epic debate in which Sean Carroll is already saying he has no plans to win the debate, he just wants to share some thoughts. Uh…does he not understand the premise of a debate? Perhaps he is hedging in light of William Lane Craig’s reputation. Either way, you don’t want to miss this debate.

The debate will take place on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. It will be streamed live online here.

Why I Believe the #CreationDebate Was an Eternal Success

Answers in Genesis has released a report with the official number it believes watched the debate between founder Ken Ham and evolutionist Bill Nye. Their best estimation reveals that approximately five million people watched the debate around the world; though they also believe the number could be as high as ten million. The statistics for website hits, trending on Twitter, and overall reach are impressive and you can see them here.

But while these numbers are indeed impressive and show that the world is interested in this very sensitive subject, there was more to this debate than purely arguing over origins.

Steve Golden wrote an article at the Answers in Genesis website with, what I believe, is the key to the purpose of this entire debate. He wrote:
